Amarnath Yatra tour is organized every year by the J &K Govt. during the month of sharavan ( July and August); the dates however vary every year looking at the weather conditions and according to Purnima (Raksha Bandhan) in the month of Sharavan (Vikrama Samwat).

Yatra to Baba Amarnath Holy Cave for which one has to trek to a height of about 14,500 ft, is full of thrill and joy. The feeling of divine which is always beneath ones' heart, burst out and one realises ‘Moksha’ as one visits the Cave and perform the prayer before the Shivlinga. Surrounded by beautiful valleys, mountains, one will always feel his presence on the paradise of the earth, the memory of which hardly vanishes with time. A journey which will rediscover nature and its love, which is always inside but one has never felt.

The Amaranth tour starts only on the fifth day of the bright half of the lunar calendar from Dashnami Akhada in Srinagar. Martand, the ancient temple dedicated to the Sun God is the first important place during the trek. There are also important shrines of Bab-zain-ud-di
Wali at Aishmuqam & other Muslim shrines on the way.

On the way there are important temples like Bijbehara,, Deviangan, Anantnag, Akingam, Lukbhavan, Bijbehara and Nagdandi Ashram along with the shrine of Baba Hyder Rishi situated in Anantnag. Sheshnag Lake is located at a distance of about 12,000ft above sea level. Wavjan lies just before the steep climb to the Mahagunus Pass and is located at an altitude of 14,000ft above sea level.

Amarnath Pilgrimage Tour

Amarnath is a very important centre of pilgrimage for Hindus and it is also a tourist attraction place. The route to Amarnath is as difficult to negotiate as it is exciting. Every year, thousands of devotees across the India come to pay homage before Shiva in one of his famous Himalayan abodes.

Situated in a narrow gorge at the farther end of Lidder valley, Amarnath stands at 3,888 m and is 45 km from Pahalgam and 141 km from Srinagar. The original Amarnath pilgrimage tour should be undertaken from Srinagar, but the more common practice is to begin the journey from Pahalgam, covering the distance to Amarnath and back in four or five days.

The base point for the pilgrim's tour is Pahalgam, a large tented township springs up to accommodate the pilgrims. All intermediate halting places have the same kind of facilities as are provided at Pahalgam, Yatra Officer is appointed to conduct the pilgrimage, manage all arrangements and take care of the safety of the participants.
