An online discount office furniture store with everything needed
Written by clarke petty
Are you annoyed by the exorbitant prices that traders wish to charge for office furniture? Don't you find it annoying that relatively normal items seem to double in price when they get to a stationers or an office furniture store. I am, I am an executive director of a small but successful manufacturing company making alloy wheels for both OEM and the aftermarket.
Now I don't have to tell you that it is difficult to maintain sales. In fact it is impossible. With the downtu
in manufacturing in the car plants, as well as the rationalization and downsizing of some of the outputs our order book has dwindled. We bought out some new, less ornate and therefore less costly products which helped, but we want to try and do everything to avoid laying off any of our staff members who have been loyal to us over the years.
We have tried everything to keep the prices of everything down. We cut the overtime first, forfeited our bonuses and took a pay cut along with a reduction in hours and thus have managed to keep our heads above water. But we have this hungry office that always wants printer inks, toner cartridges , letter heads, order books, A4 paper by the ream, photocopy toner and, and, and AAARGH!!!!
Well this prompted me to look very closely at our stationery account. Frightening it was. So I paid it off and closed it down threatening everybody with painful death if they so much as wasted a paperclip. Then of course I realized this was a baby and bathwater scenario. Our Salesmen had to get out there and sell, so they had to compose effective sales letters and quotes, Our accounts staff and buyers and secretaries all did what they had to do and knew the predicament we were in. Nevertheless we had to have access to normal consumables.
I tried getting these bought from the local supermarket which was OK but required petty cash and a body to travel there, shop and drive back so there was no saving per item in the long run. In addition we keep our staffing tight so when one of them is out shopping other work slips. The crunch really came when the second of our normal office chairs broke from fatigue in a week. Those damn spiders that the wheels attach to are made out of plastic and contort when anyone heavier than a featherweight sits in them.
