Anemia that is caused by the destruction of the body's red blood cells is also known as hemolytic anemia. Whenever the red blood cells rupture more quickly than normal, anemia can result. Sometimes hemolytic anemia occurs for no known reason called spontaneous hemolytic anemia. However, many times the cause can be established.

Symptoms of anemia:

1. Fatigue
2. Weakness
3. Fainting and dizziness
4. Shortness of breath
5. Heart palpitations
6. Pale complexio

Remedies:

1-Apples are very good for anemia as they have high iron content. They should be eaten regularly; preferably after every meal.

2-Beetroot is also a very good source of iron. Apart from iron it contains various other minerals that are protective in function to the body.

3-Figs must be eaten regularly, at the rate of three to four per day.

4-Organ meats like kidney and liver must be included in the diet.

Treatment should be directed at the cause of the anemia. In some cases, blood transfusions and the medication erythropoietin will correct anemia. For example, treatment for sickle cell anemia is different than treatment for a diet low in iron or folic acid. Talk to your HCP about the best treatment for the cause of your anemia. Other Treatment Injectable EPO (e.g., PROCRIT®, EPOGEN®) is an alternative to blood transfusion to treat critically ill patients with anemia.

If your teen is diagnosed as having iron-deficiency anemia, an iron supplement will most likely be prescribed once or twice a day for a time depending on how severe the anemia is. Your doctor may also recommend, and it is a good idea to, making some lifestyle changes involving a healthier diet consisting of dark green vegetables, legumes and small amounts of red meat as well.

Causes include:

1-Accurate blood loss

2-Anemia of chronic disease

3-Bone marrow failure Aplastic anemia

Anemia occurs when you do not have enough red blood cells needed by your body for energy production. You may feel tired both mentally and physically.

Sickle cell anemia is caused by genetics. The cause of this type of anemia is inheritance. African Americans are often susceptible to sickle cell as they are in contracting tuberculosis (tb). Researchers don't know why this is.

Types of anemia

1. Iron deficiency anemia: It is the most common types of anemia. Iron is required for the formation of hemoglobin, when there is less iron in the body it causes iron deficiency anemia.

2. Aplastic anemia: When body stops making enough red blood cells and chances of infections increases.

3. Vitamin deficiency anemia: This is also termed as megaloblastic anemia. This is caused due to the deficiency of folic acid or vitami
B12.

Oxygen is necessary for life and the optimal function of all cells. Red blood cells transport oxygen from the lungs to the tissues throughout your body. It is the hemoglobin molecule that binds oxygen to itself in the lungs and then releases oxygen to the tissues for proper cell respiration.

Anemia can result from inherited disorders, nutritional problems (such as iron or vitamin deficiency) infections, some kinds of cancer, exposure to drugs or toxins. In fact there are over 400 different forms of anemia; however, in this article we will focus on the most common forms, iron deficiency anemia, B12 deficiency and folate deficiency.

In case of mild anemia, the person skin turns paler and there is decrease color in the gums and lips. However, these changes are difficult to spot as they happen very slowly. However, the most common symptoms of anemia are lightheadedness, cold feet and hands, brittle nails, enlarged spleen, frequent infections and rapid heartbeat along with irritability.

Most people understand that anemia is caused by iron deficiency in the bloodstream but in reality anemia is characterized by deficiency in the hemoglobin of the red blood cells diminishing the ability of the blood to transport oxygen to our cells and to remove carbon dioxide. In this article, we will learn how to prevent and treat anemia with nutritional supplements.
