We will be reviewing a partial list of the ingredients in many colon cleansers, with an explanation of each. This may help you decide if this is something you should do to lose weight, or even just for your own well being before you order a product.

The first, and one of the main ingredients is Cascara Sagrada

Cascara Sagrada facilitates normal stool functions and at the same time conditions the muscles in your intestinal tract. It also promotes correct hormone levels which are controlled by the pituitary gland and it is also good for the gall bladder, pancreas and liver.

You will find this herb is a very effective, natural and mild laxative. It is not habit forming, so after using, its good effects last without continual use. It is produced from the bark of trees grown right here in the North America, (British Columbia and Washington State).

The second ingredient is slippery elm

Slippery elm is a detoxifier and intestinal soother. It works by calming the mucus membranes in the stomach. This also aids the soothing process by stimulating the nerve ends in the stomach and thus resulting in secreting mucus fluids.

Another benefit from slippery elm is that it counteracts irritants and toxic substances which helps to balance the flora and reduces constipation. Combined with Cascara Sagrada, your body reacts very favorably and therefore it is not harmful in any way to your body.

The third and last ingredient we will be examining is Aloe

Thousands of years ago the Egyptians were using aloe for healing. Today it can be found growing right here in the United States (we have some at our home in Georgia). Almost everyone realizes that aloe is an all round natural miracle herb that has hundreds of soothing, healing characteristics.

There are several other natural ingredients used in colon cleansers. I will list several more for you to check out yourself if you still have any doubts that cleansing may be harmful. Chinese Rhubarb Root, Bentonite Clay, Wormwood, Senna and Flax Seed make up the bulk of remaining ingredients.

My personal opinion

After looking at the testimonies of users, researching ingredients and checking out the manufacturers claims, I have personally come to the conclusion that the majority of natural colon cleansers are safe for everyone unless you have special intestinal conditions. To be on the safe side, please check with your family doctor before using.

I hope this article was informative, and will aid your decision whether to use a good quality colon cleanser.

God bless
