Avoid suffering from sunburn this holiday
Written by Claude Be ard
The way to avoid suffering effects of sunburn especially over a long period of time is to avoid sunburn completely. One can prevent sunbu
by applying a SPF sunscreen of not less than 15 on a daily basis even in cloudy weather conditions. In addition wherever possible you should wear sun protective clothing such as hats and sunglasses. By taking precautionary measures you can reduce the chances of becoming sun burnt. Especially during peak sunlight hours, you should limit the time you spend outside and avoid sun tanning. Most people love the sun, and love tanning which makes them look and feel good short term. However, over exposure to the sun causes age spots and wrinkles on the face and body.
Women that protect their skin from UV rays, also prevent premature aging. Even though most of us associate a tan and glowing complexion with good health, premature aging effects are accelerated as is the chances of developing skin cancer. Although skin cancer is one of the most serious effects from sunburn, long tern sun exposure can also cause skin growths such as actinic keratosis which are normally benign, however, if left untreated can lead to malignancy. There is a wide range of sun care products Australia of which one of the top ranges are the Ella Bache range.
Over exposure to the sun can also cause the immune system to become suppressed. The white blood cell distribution can be negatively affected when the skin is sun burned; when this takes place the white blood cells are unable to combat infections efficiently. Immune suppression can last up to twenty four hours after each session in the sun, and long term the suppression may become permanent. Premature ageing is also caused by over exposure to the sun and the long term results are darks spots on the skin, lines and wrinkles and sagging. Many people develop squamous cell carcinoma which is diagnosed by the appearance of red scaly patches or a raised growth on the skin. This type of skin cancer is commonly on the lips, face and ears, and will spread to other tissues, and if left untreated can lead to death.
The deadliest form of skin cancer is the malignant melanoma which usually begins near a mole. This type of skin cancer required immediate medical treatment. Should you be exposed to the sun on a regular basis, you should have your skin checked by a dermatologist annually to make sure you have no signs of disease such as skin cancer. What most people consider normal ageing, sun exposure causes these skin changes.
