Barcelona Tourist Guide - Catalonia Region (Spain)

Barcelona city is among the most famous tourist destinations in Europe as this city has a lot to offer visitors from across the world. The city is mostly known for its unique, historical and very original monuments and architectural sites dating from ancient times. Barcelona has the reputation of being a “Trendy City.” It is located in the Catalonia Region of Spain and is also the capital city of this part of the country.Las Ramblas which is located in the heart of the city is the landmark of Barcelona and the place remains crowded most of the time by visitors who shop here and get themselves entertained.

The Gothic Quarter located in the east side of Las Ramblas is another popular tourist destination in the city. This place has a number of churches, palaces and cathedral belonging to 14th century and most of them are constructed in the Gothic style. If you move towards the west, you will reach the popular Eixample District which was constructed during the 19th century and its is known to have some of the most modern buildings and architecture to be found in Barcelona, like the Sagrada Familia which was designed by the famous architect Antoni Gaudi. It took workers more than twenty years to construct this beautiful building. Casa Mila is another beautiful piece of work by Gaudi which is also located in the Eixample District.

The famous Montjuic Mountain is located in the south side of Barcelona city and is known for the famous museums which are located here like the Museu Nacional d’Art Catalunya and the Fundacion Miro Museum. The famous stadium built for the 1992 Olympics is also situated here. You can also enjoy reaching the top of the hill by cable car and the scenes from the top are very amazing and beautiful.

Museu d’Art Contemporani de Barcelona is another highlight of the city as this building is all covered by a large glass and it was designed by the famous architect from America, Richard Meier. This museum has on display some very fine works of modern art by many good artists of Catalan region and the rest of vakantievilla spanje .You can also visit the newly renovated area of the port and marina which has a number of shops, cafes, restaurants, boutiques, cinema and aquarium and the fishing village near the port.
