We are usually aware of the basketball game information and many important facts that make basketball history more astonishing. But there are some facts and important information that is related to basketball and most of the people are unaware or they don’t bother to know. Sometimes some questions arise in our mind that should be answered. Following informational data will be explaining about such facts and questions:

  • Basketball was discovered by a sports coach (Dr. James Naismith) who was a Canadian.
  • Do you know the name of the tallest NBA player? His name was “Yao Ming”. He is a Chinese man.
  • All the NBA teams obtain the new basketball players by the draft.
  • Usually indoor surface for basketball is made up of “wood” this is because of the fact that maple wood offers great flexibility and strength. Players can enjoy a healthy game with less severe injuries. The maple wood also acts as a shock absorbent.
  • Mostly taller players are preferred in basketball, but most of the people also believe that live basketball can increase height. The game can affect body in such a way that a person may grow height, but this is just a possibility.
  • Do you know that good players always do icing on their knees after gaming? What is the reason? This is because of the fact that your knees do a lot of struggle during game thus you can suffer from jumper’s knees or swelling near the knee area. To avoid such a state, players use ice on their knees. They wrap ice on their knees for about 15 to 20 minutes. This should be a regular practice even if the player is feeling fine.
  • There is an interesting name for basketball players; occasionally they are called “cagers”, but why? The history made this name. In the past, the game of the basketball was played within a cage like environment. The area of the game was protected with fence or metallic wires. So the players were called as cagers.
  • Some basketball players wear arm sleeves and others think why they are wearing this? The reason is to keep the arm warm. Usually if a player is suffering from pain or minor injury. He/she uses to wear this to protect that area. Nowadays fashionable and stylish tattoo sleeves are also available. The first person, who wore it, was Allen Iverson in the year 2000 because of the elbow surgery.
  • There is Disney movie based on real life of two twin sisters who are professional live basketball players. Their names are Heidi and Heather Burge. The movie was released in January 2002 and it was directed by Duwayne Dunham.
  • The top 5 richest basketball players are: Lebron James, Kobe Bryant, Tim Duncan, Kevin Durant and Kevin Garnett.
  • Do you know why the color of the basketball is orange? Mr. Tony Hinkle designed the basketball in 1950s. The ball of a basketball got the identity and the color of it was selected by keeping the mind, the visibility factors.
