Beauty therapists play an important role in health and wellbeing
Written by Claude Be ard
A beauty therapist not only does manicures, pedicures and applies makeup as most people conceive. In order to become a beauty therapist you need to attend a beauty college where you will learn the various beauty skills that include facials, waxing, manicures and pedicures, Epilation, makeup, spa therapies, eye treatments, electrical treatments, business management and massage techniques and much more. The skills and knowledge acquired at college will provide students with the necessary basis for employment. Therapists working in salons are expected to contribute the running and sometimes management of the business as well as share and develop skills in other areas of beauty treatments provided to clients.
The role of a salon beauty therapist includes working at reception and making bookings, cleaning and maintaining the salon, stock control, payment processing, selling retail products, attend additional training courses where you will learn the latest new skills and marketing the salon. Many salons are open till late in order to meet the demand, which means therapists work long hours in order to cater the client’s needs. As a professional relationship develops with clients, you will need to be discreet and good listeners as clients usually end up discussing their private lives with the therapist, although it is not the therapists place to provide counselling or give advice, all you need do is be interested and supportive. beauty therapy provides a major role in providing clients with beauty treatments, and the more senior the therapist is the more advanced the treatments will become. In spite of the long hours and hard work, statistics have revealed that beauty therapists are exceptionally happy providing beauty services and improving client’s lives. If you enjoy pampering people, then you should consider a career as a beauty therapist, where you will be responsible for administering a wide range of beauty treatments to clients. Therapists also carry out eyebrow dying and eyelash tinting, tanning and other such therapies. Before a client receives any beauty treatment they need to fill in a medical questionnaire which will alert you to any allergies or medical issues the client may have. Ralph Waldo Emerson once quoted that the love of beauty is taste and the creation of beauty is an art.
Beauty therapists are in demand and if you work in a salon, health club or spa you will be required to do shift work. Therapists that work full time usually work forty hours a week, although there are several flexible and part time options available. Therapists get to meet all kinds of people from different walks of life which make the job extremely interesting and challenging. Besides making clients fell fabulous you will also experience great job satisfaction.
