Being a single man: Have you become resigned to the single life?

It's very easy to convince ourselves that our single status is a choice, when in actual fact the truth is we're snuggled up in our comfort zone and fear stepping outside of it into the unknown, where we might face hurt and rejection.

I spent seven years without a girlfriend. Sure, I grew as a person during that time and I do think that a spell of being single is fantastic to define your character; but seven years was really stretching it! I look back now and realise that, although I believed at the time I was single through choice, the reality was I was resigned to being single because I had NO CLUE how to start interacting with women. Not a clue. The fact that I hadn't had a girlfriend (or even anything close) in seven years was PROOF to me that I was just not cut out for dating, and I had better just go about the business of being single. And do you know what happened as soon as I resigned myself to that fact?

I'm not talking about anything 'woo, woo' or way out here, this is scientific fact: everything you need to attract women is already wired deep within you! 'But I'm not good looking, I haven't got a great job' I hear you cry 'women just aren't interested!!' Listen, all of that negativity is simply the inner critic. I will tell you for a FACT. Yes, an absolute fact, that looks and career choice are not the things that are preventing you from finding a great girl. I don't care if you look like Frankenstein's ugly brother; you STILL have what it takes to bag yourself a terrific girlfriend. I have seen it happen time and time again so I will not accept that you are any different. Whatever excuses you try and make, I will just stick my fingers in my ears and drown your voice out with my terrible singing. Why? Because your excuses do not change the simple truth that YOU have control over your dating success!

But here's the problem: Whist some guys activate their attraction systems with ease (and we call them 'naturals') others never quite learn how to do this; and as time passes and we get so many inputs (conflicting advice on women, societal pressures to be a certain way etc) it becomes increasingly difficult to tap into that system. Once that happens, and we go unnoticed by women for any length of time, we get into a negative cycle and soon become resigned to leading the single life. Yep, that's how it happens.
