The tea was blue but it was what Hang Sen had told me the tea could do that had me about ready to get up and walk out of the room. The old man merely sat watching me curiously, his deep, black eyes shimmering intensely in the soft light of the tea room where we sat.
He knew full well what he was doing; taunting me with ridiculous notions that sought to reignite a fire within me that had long since been snuffed out by my relentless battle with a chronic disease that had seeped into every area of my life and drained all that was good out of it. And now here was this old man with talk of an instant cure, of a magic cup of blue tea that had the power to completely and permanently restore me to a state of radiant health. It was too much. I found his comments cruel and insensitive and when I told him so he burst into laughter n‘You find the notion, that by drinking a cup of this tea you can be completely cured of your disease a ridiculous one’ he boomed out, rattling the teapot and the two delicate cups as his hand slapped the polished wooden surface of the table ‘Yet I find it ridiculous that you believe your state of woe is a permanent one and incapable of changing. It seems we are at an impasse’ He chuckled, waiting to see what I would do next.n‘If my being cured were as simple as merely drinking a cup of this blue tea then why haven’t any of the doctors or specialists, homeopaths or healers, spiritual guides and psychics I have been to not been able to help me?’ I shot back at him. My tone was acid and I could feel the cold flames of rage beginning to dance deep within me. How could this person who claimed to be a sage sit across from me, laughing and reveling in my anguish, and suggest so flippantly that a little cup of blue tea could simply wash away years of physical and psychological torment? Years I had spent going from doctors door to doctors door in my desperate search of an answer to what was wrong with me…an answer that never came.n‘Because unlike everything else you have tried up until this point, this tea works from the inside out. So far you have been spending all your energy searching everywhere for where the answer is not. In all the universe there is no one who is able to change your circumstances, save one’ Hang Sen thrust his finger at me like a javelin ‘You.’ n‘You sit there and grow angry because you are unwilling to take responsibility for the incredible power that resides within you. Your body created this disease and your body can take it away. The only thing stopping it from doing so is what is contained in this tea. That is why I say that this tea has the power to restore your health to you.’
He gestured to the cup that stood before me on the table, translucent tendrils of steam rising up and dissolving in a potent burst of fragrance. n‘This is The Tea of Belief’ He told me ‘because it has within it the most powerful ingredient in the entire universe. This tea has the potential to give unto whoever drinks it the power to create anything, absolutely anything. Its power is absolute and unyielding; there is nothing that can withstand its power and that includes what you have come to term your ‘unnamable and incurable’ disease.’
Hang Sen explained that if I could find within myself the complete and total belief that by drinking this one cup of tea all my symptoms would completely vanish, then that is exactly what would happen.
I drank my tea with a heavy heart because just then it was too much to ask of myself. I simply could not find that belief within myself and Hang Sen knew it.
He shook his head knowingly, gazing at me with understanding ‘You cannot do this, not yet. Your belief that this is not possible is much stronger and deeply embedded in you than the belief that it is.’n‘The power of belief is total and unyielding. When you believe in something with a certainty that spreads beyond merely your thoughts, with a belief that is woven into the very fabric of who you are on every level, then you will find that anything is possible.’
He continued, his voice was full of compassion and I took comfort in it n ‘You see’ he whispered as he leaned closer to me, touching my hand with his ‘the great secret here is that it is not that in which we believe that cures but the belief itself. Belief is the energy which creates and destroys, which heals or sickens, which holds or releases. But our beliefs are not so easily given up. They are the very way in which we see, experience and live in the world. Everything we think, feel, say and do and so subsequently everything we experience comes out of our beliefs. And so for you, your belief that you will never get totally better, that it is impossible to simply let go and become totally healthy in an instant’ He snapped his fingers under my nose ‘has been shaped and formed and strengthened over the years to such an extent that even upon becoming aware of it, and knowing that it is not a belief which you want to hold on to any longer, it however still holds you fast in its clutches and it will not let you go!’ n‘Well, if that is the case, then what am I supposed to do. You make it sound like I’m stuck, that I don’t have a choice here, that my belief is so strong I can’t break free from it. What am I supposed to do?’ I asked. n‘It is not I who makes it sound that way, that’s all your doing my friend’ He said with his characteristic chuckle, as if this was all tremendously amusing to him. n‘What is needed is to simply let it go. Why do you think you have attracted ‘The Sedona Method’ into your life at this exact juncture when you have finally turned inward for your answers? Let it go in its entirety, without evaluating it, studying it, questioning it or wanting to figure out the how and the why and simply let the belief that you cannot heal in an instant, once and for good, drop away from you. Open up and release!’ By becoming aware of this belief, as you just have, you’re already half way there…now you just have to let it go.’
He sat back and looked at me for a long time as I allowed what he was saying to seep into my understanding. n‘It is time for me to go, but before I do I would like you to know that once you have dropped this belief, then you will be able to choose a new belief, one that empowers you and is in alignment with your true nature which you are coming to know, more and more each day. The question is…’ He smiled as he stood up to take his leave ‘What belief will you choose?’
