Benefits of Cleaning With Ionized Alkaline Water
Written by Dalia Sreideriene
On a pH scale, alkaline water is water that is neutral. It is on the basic side or alkaline side of the scale – ranging from 7.5 to 14 pH. A lot of people hold the belief that alkaline water is immeasurably beneficial and that it is a vital constituent for one’s health. As a matter of fact, there are those that say that research on alkaline water is far from the conclusion. The main use of alkaline water is for drinking, due to the health benefits that are associated with it.
In order for a human body to function normally it must, on a continuous basis, maintain the proper pH or chemical balance. Having an unbalanced body pH causes it to take minerals from the vital organs and bones. This causes the body to remove the excess acid and, consequently, a loss of the pH balance. A lot of acid in the body could cause serious and permanent damages to the body tissues. These include cancer, weakening of bones, fatigue, aging and so forth. That is why quite a large number of people drink alkaline water - to maintain the body’s pH and avoid the aforementioned problems.
However, alkaline water is not just used for drinking. One can also use it for household cleaning. Just like ionized water, alkaline water is also used for sanitization and as a disinfectant. Even so, a large number of people only know about the benefits of drinking alkaline water, not the benefits of using it as a cleaning agent. Strongly alkaline water with a pH range of 10.5 to 11.5 is a powerful cleaning agent.
Alkaline water is known for body detoxification; and it applies the same properties for the removal of dirt, stains and oils from household items such as fabrics, carpets, furniture, clothing, etc. For instance, carpets are cleaned by saturating the stained area with alkaline water and then using a piece of dry cloth for drying. Unlike traditional chemicals for cleaning carpets, alkaline water does not leave residues that pick up more dirt. Also, alkaline water evaporates remarkably fast without leaving any dampness behind. This ensures that the cleaned surface remains the same for quite some time. Also, one does not have to worry about the harmful effects of using chemical detergents. The same cleaning method is applied to other household items. Alkaline water is additionally used for removing bacteria when it is sprayed on a surface.
