Toenail fungus or onychomycosis is a commonly found disease formed due to the action of dermatophyte fungi. Soaking infected toes in Listerine mouthwash is one of the commonly suggested ways for fungus treatment. This antiseptic mouthwash helps in destroying fungus and reduces the risk of fungus. Patients with toenail fungus are often recommended to soak their toes in Listerine for thirty minutes in a day for better results. Sometimes, a mixture of vinegar and Listerine mixed in equal proportion are used for fungus treatment. Patients are advised to dip their infected toes in this mixture daily for thirty minutes. Vinegar is another best natural cure used for fungus treatment. You can easily do this treatment by soaking the infected toes in a mixture of warm water and vinegar. After soaking for thirty minutes, wipe toes with a clean dry towel and make your toes germ free.

Tea tree oil or melaleuca oil is an important natural remedy used for toenail fungus treatment. This yellow coloured oil with camphoraceous odor is a powerful antiseptic and fungicide. Tea tree oil, taken from the leaves of Melaleuca alte

It is done by treating the infected toenail area with laser. Application of laser rays on infected portion kills the growth of fungi and helps in faster curing of fungus. Usage of medicated nail polish is a commonly suggested remedial measure for toenail fungus. This type of treatment is generally prescribed during the earlier stages of disease. Loceryl and loprox, the active components included in medicated nail polish acts as a powerful antiseptic by degrading the growth of fungi.

Today, vivid antifungal oral medications are used for toenail fungus treatment. Sporanox or Itraconazole is one among the oral medications commonly suggested by physicians. This oral antiseptic medicine may sometimes induce side effects like abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting. Never hesitate to seek the advice of a doctor for getting the correct dosage level before taking this medicine. Lamisil or Terbinafine is another oral medication used for fungus treatment. Over usage of Lamisil may also cause side effects like constipation and dizziness. Penlac nail lacquer is a topical antifungal drug used for curing toenail fungus. Ciclopirox, equipped in Penlac plays the role of a synthetic antifungal agent and deteriorates the growth of fungi. It is commonly available in the market in the name of Loprox, Mycoster, Batrafen, and Stieprox.
