Born with the voice of a nightingale and the fate of a rockstar, Beyonce Knowles knew from the start that she was going to make her life big. Born as Beyonce Giselle Knowles in Houston, Texas, her vocal abilities were discovered very early in her childhood when her dance instructor began humming a song and she took it to the finish, hitting the high-pitched notes. Later she performed at her school talent show where she sang John Lennon's song "Imagine" and won the competition. By the time she was seven, she came into the eyes of the press Beyonce songs and Beyonce pictures making the news. She was highly praised for her talent and singing ability. By the time she turned eight, she teamed up with her cousin, Kelly Rowland, and two classmates, and formed an all-female singing group called ‘Girls Tyme’. They performed with rapping and dancing and gained instant popularity. West coast R&B producer Arne Frager from The Plant Recording Studios flew into Houston to see them and eventually brought them into their studio. The plan was to launch them through the talent show-“Star Search” but they lost in the competition. Following the defeat, they dedicated their time to enhancing their music and kept rehearsing in Tina's Headliners Salon and their backyards. They continued performing as an opening act for other established R&B girl groups of the time, auditioned before record labels and were finally signed to Elektra Records. The group changed its name to “Destiny’s Child” in 1993 with Beyonce as its lead singer. With her vocals were the main showcase of the group, they performed extensively in local events. After four years on the road, the group was signed to Columbia Records in late 1997. This was Beyonce’s big break. Her association with Destiny’s Child brought her to limelight with the record label displayed special interest in her singing ability and talent. Their first song-"Killing Time" became an instant hit and was launched as part of the soundtrack to the 1997 film, Men in Black. Four studio albums later, the group went on to become one of the world’s best selling girl groups of all time. After the success with Destiny’s child, Beyonce launched her solo career in 2003 with her album “Dangerously in love”. The album featured two number-one singles on the Billboard Hot 100—"Crazy in Love" and "Baby Boy". The album was one of the most successful albums of that year and won her as many as five Grammy awards. And she hasn’t looked back since. Her later albums were all chart busters, with Beyonce music videos winning various awards, her songs topping every music chart and her fan following expanding hundred fold. The Beyonce music video of the song "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)" went viral on the internet and was called “first major dance craze of both the new millennium and the Internet”. She also holds the record for the most (six) Grammies won by a female artist in one night. Beyonce has truly redefined the meaning of stardom and success!
