Right across all ages, be it a 5 year old girl or a 70 plus woman, there is a want and need for a bag. Bags were largely categorised as pure leather bags, artificial leather bags / synthetic polyurethane (PU) bags and fabric bags. One would find attractive patterns and designs in the first two categories but the fabric bags were looked upon as bags for utility purpose solely that is grocery or shopping bags. Most of the times, the fabric bags were made at home and were up cycled using old bed sheets, sarees and dresses. Ladies looking for practical and purpose oriented bags like tote bags, shoulder bags, laptop bags etc. or students wanting sling bags or backpacks which were sturdy and at the same time trendy would rather opt for the leather / non leather variety because they had no choices in the fabric bags. In the olden scenario, the fabric bags, unfortunately, lacked the styling and designing in comparison to its leather / non leather variants and the choice of fabrics and prints left much to be desired.
Realising this short fall, we at Bhamini decided to create fabric bags that would have practical usage, attractive styling, crisp detailing and conscious pricing. We also wanted to incorporate the essence of Indian arts and crafts in our products and wanted our BHAMINI Bags to have the MADE IN INDIA look and feel. So we decided to use handloom cotton fabrics from various states of India and make that the salient feature of every BHAMINI bag. Handloom cotton fabrics with weaves and prints like Pochampally Ikat / Ikkat from Telangana , Kalamkari from Andhra Pradesh , Dabbu / Indigo Prints and Block / Sanganeri prints from Rajasthan , raw silk from Kolkatta, brocades from Varanasi and many more are used to make different types of bags.
The bags that we offer are handbags, Sling / cross body bags, laptop bags, backpacks, wallets and pouches, clutches and potlis / batwas. The bags are created using very good quality handloom cotton fabrics and Indian Vegan Leather. The designs are made keeping in mind the aesthetic look of the bag and at the same time the comfort and ease of using the bag. There are sufficient compartments and pockets provided in each bag. The shoulder straps are made to ensure that the weight of the bag is well distributed on the shoulder and back of the person carrying the bag. The slings generally come with adjusters to adjust the length as per convenience. The smallest size slings can also accommodate a standard Android mobile phone. The wallets are made by specialised craftsmen who have a keen eye for detail. The ethnic bags are also beautiful pieces of art as we create designs using traditional work like Zardozi embroidery, Aari work, Kutchi Embroidery, Phulkari work, beads stones and sequins work etc. The clutches, batwas and potlis are made keeping in mind their usage and we have a bag for every occasion be it festive, marriage, parties, traditional functions, formal events and so on.
