Boost your body strength, better immune response!
Written by Iuliana Lixandru
Still enjoying the sunshine or feeling the fall in the air? Either way, we all know summer’s almost gone.
It’s time for golden leaves, harvest of the crops, going back to school, roasted turkey and pumpkin pies and…..rain, cold, sometimes runny noses, fever or coughs.
Since we’re here talking about good things, I thought maybe you’d like a couple of advices on how to have fun and be in your best shape no matter if it’s hot or cold, wind, rain or snow.
Everybody seems to be scared when they hear about low immunity, allergies, flu season etc.
Let me assure you, it’s not so complicated and any person could improve their immunity.
First, when we talk about immune system it’s all about our lymphatic system. Blood and lymph capillaries are working together on eliminating the waste from our bodies. Lymph nodes are filtering points when the body is fighting with an infection.
Conclusion? Yes! You got it! As long as we are careful and maintain a good functioning of the lymphatic system chances to get sick, have allergies or be too sensitive to cold are significantly decreasing.
Ok, I understand, you don’t know anything about the lymphatic system. It’s like a ghost you’ve never seen and pretty difficult to take care of since you don’t know how to do it.
Some easy things to do would be: daily exercises - walking, breathing, anything that involves moving, involves also the circulation of the lymph.
Since it’s almost fall, a detox diet would be good also. Usually cleanses are to be done when the season changes, in spring or fall. You can choose a fruit cure or a vegetarian diet. There are plenty of books on detox diets. You can find them even on the internet. It’s up to you to choose one that makes you feel comfortable.
Remember! It’s not about being in hell because you’re too hungry and you’re starving yourself. It’s about being gentle and careful with your body. Give your body time to reset and eliminate the toxins. Don’t go into extremes. These are only hurting your body.
If you still have problems during the cold season, start using some herbs and plants with anti-bacterial properties: basil, garlic, chili pepper, horseradish, mustard, thyme, oregano, cinnamon.
Try and have fun when you’re using them like for example: make a hot apple cider with a lot of cinnamon, cloves and orange peel. Add fresh basil to some of your salads or infused it in oils. Use your imagination and not only you’ll have great food but, mainly, you’ll be healthier.
