If you want to know how to build shoulder muscles, be aware that your shoulder is actually a "ball and socket" joint, similar to that of your hips. Perhaps the only difference is that your shoulders are more sensitive than your hips, and are therefore prone to risks. Training with the right form and in a multi-directional environment will decrease the risk so make sure to train smart and use these training exercises in order for your muscles to really gro.

Trapezoid Training

The trapezoid, also known as trapezius, is a large muscle that extends from the back of your neck and shoulders towards the right and on the middle portion of your back. It works along with your arms, shoulders as well as your back and move the shoulder blades through shrugging, pushing forward and throwing. But this training is best performed by shrugging, because shrugging has the ability to put more bulk in your muscles and shoulder area.

The common mistake that most people often do when it comes to shrugging is when they circle their shoulders, because this is actually no longer necessary. The right thing is to simply shrug your shoulder as much as you can, while doing some pause for a few seconds and letting the shoulder girdle to fall slowly at the same time. Overhead shrugging is considered the most intense of all the types of shrugging and this involves holding into a barbell overhead while lifting the entire shoulder at the same time, while slowly bringing the shoulder near the ears.

Deltoid Training

Another training exercise for building shoulder muscles is the deltoid training. The deltoid muscle works by raising the arm away from your body and does this both in the front, as well as on the side and back area. Deltoid is a striated muscle that wraps around the shoulder, which goes right in the front area, as well as on the side and back area.

People often make a mistake of doing shoulder presses right behind the neck when doing deltoid training. This is not actually the right way of how to build shoulder muscles because this could pose a lot of risk. Instead, you should simply carry out complete shoulder presses through a standing or seating position.

Superset Shoulder Exercises

In order for you to be successful when it comes to building your shoulder muscles, you should be able to do heavy barbell shoulder presses and at the same time, superset it with light dumbbell shoulder press. Another superset is by completing ten set of front, side and back raise exercise without any pause. The clean-and-press is already a superset on its own, but make sure to shrug during the clean and press and make use of those delts when lifting the bar overhead.

It's unfortunate that we can no longer do something to change the structure of the bones on our shoulder. Learning how to build shoulder muscles is perhaps, the only practical way to achieve an increased muscle mass on your shoulders. Also, keep in mind that performing these shoulder muscle training exercises is not enough, you should also watch your diet by regularly eating right
