Of all of the Mixed Martial Arts Training Equipment, the heavy bag is the most versatile. The heavy bag is used by both boxing and mixed martial arts practitioner. It is designed to take so much abuse from different forms of strikes. It can be used for kicking, punching, kneeing, and ground-and-pound exercises. It is also great for strength and stamina building. Other training equipments to consider are boxing gloves, sparring gloves, a mouth guard.

By punching the heavy bag in rapid fire for 30 seconds, it can help develop your cardio and stamina. After a week of this exercise you can start to push yourself a bit by increasing the time to 60 seconds. To develop leg strength, increase cardio, and stamina you can do the same by kicking the bag one leg at a time or in combination.

Another great exercise with the this bag is to do kneeing exercise. Just like the previous examples, instead of punching and kicking; now use your knees to strike the heavy bag. With a timer you can again do this exercise for 30 seconds. As you find your body being accustomed to this drill; challenge yourself to increase the time.

With these three exercises you can develop this into a mini circuit to start with. I recommend having 3 sets each with a 60 second break in between and 3 days a week. After about 2 weeks of disciplined workout you will be able to feel an improvement in your overall fitness and health.

As you can see, the heavy bag is really a Mixed Martial Arts Training Equipment essential.
