Can You Separate Wellness from Happiness?

What do these two mean to you and can they be separate in your life? In many ways, I think the mildly recent popularity of wellness is a euphemism for 'happiness' that the public can get behind. There seems to be lingering abashment about being happy, so we've created the concept of wellness, which sounds more grounded and like something that can be achieved or created and not just experienced.
I'm well when I'm healthy and balanced and in the flow. But I can't experience balance, flow or full health, when I'm not happy. What is wellness for you? A physical state maybe achieved by diet, exercise, even good genes, or is it also (or only) a mental, emotional and psychological experience?
