One of the things that make Cancun a great tourist attraction is the fact that Cancun has more tourist attractions than most cities in the world. Not only are there more Cancun tourist attractions than most cities in the world but the Cancun attractions are extremely varied.
By varied I mean there are Cancun adventure tours, Cancun archeological tours, Cancun day cruises just to name a few.

The Cancun adventure tours include Selvatica- a zip line tour for the whole family which is the number 1 tour in Cancun, and has been for the last 3 years. Also in the Cancun adventure category you will find the Crocodile Adventure where you will actually board a small boat at night and search for crocodiles. A true adventure. Then there is the Sian Ka’an Wilderness Adventure. You will visit one of the great natural reserves in the Americas. Sian Ka’an is the most important Biosphere Reserve in Mexico and a refuge with a great diversity of plants and animals including 350 bird species. A Cancun activity so close to Cancun yet so different.

Cancun archeological tours include such greats as Chichen Itza, the most visited of all the Mayan ruins – Chichen Itza from Cancun does include hotel pickup and return. Chichen Itza is dedicated as one of the 7 wonders of the world. Chichen Itza is a Cancun attraction that must not be missed.
You can even stand at the edge of the great Cenote – or sinkhole where hundreds of young virgin women were sacrificed.

Imagine…
The young virgin looked terrified as she stood on the edge of the “Sacred Well” at Chichen Itza between two colorfully-dressed high priests.
She was so laden with gold, jade, and carved seashells that she could not swim even if she had known how…

You stand on that exact spot some 800 years later! Chichen Itza is a “must see Cancun tour.”
Also in the Cancun archeological tour category you have such other great tours as the Coba-Maya Village where you visit the Coba Mayan ruins – with the tallest pyramid on the Yucatan Peninsula and then on to a Mayan Village to see how the present day Mayans live.

Tulum is the second most visited tour on the Yucatan peninsula and sits majestically on the only bluff on the entire Yucatan peninsula. Incredible views are had from the Tulum ruins. Tulum is one of the great Cancun things to do as it does not take an entire day as does the Chichen Itza tours from Cancun. So if you just have a passing interest in the Mayan ruins and don’t want to spend the entire day -go to Tulum.

The best Cancun day cruise is catamaran cruise to Isla Mujeres. There are many companies offering Isla Mujeres day cruise and most have a similar itinerary. You board the boat for the cruise to a beautiful snorkeling reef. There you will snorkel for about 45 minutes to 1 hour. Then it is on the Island of Isla Mujeres. There you will enjoy a buffet lunch and free time to explore the island or just relax and do nothing, like lay in a hammock or sun on the beach. Here is a Cancun travel tip – rent a golf cart on Isla Mujeres and enjoy a quick ride around the small island and take in some of the great sites at the southern end such as Garrafon. Then it is back on the catamaran for the sail back to Cancun with the bar open all day of course and fun and games along the way.

For those that want to make their own Cancun excursion you can even rent a yacht or sailboat and set your own itinerary. Here is a Cancun travel tip - yacht rental in Cancun is cheaper than you think so if you have a party of 5 or more you may want to consider this private Cancun excursion for you and your guests.

Cancun as a destination has a Cancun tourist attraction for everyone – make sure Cancun is part of your travel plans.
