The airplane job involves flying of aircrafts with respect to transporting cargo and passengers across geographical locations. These locations may be within the state, country or around the globe as well. The thrilling job involves a lot more, apart from the initial idea of flying aircrafts. Pilots actually have the responsibility of safety aspects of the cargo concerned and the passengers, whichever is applicable. Prior to the start, pilots have to follow a checklist, which involves checking & controlling equipment, supplies etc. The air traffic controllers approve the flight plans via the captain, depending upon the weather conditions and the flight conditions as well. The work flow of a flight journey has the requirement of 2 pilots working in tandem. One of them works as a captain and the other is the co-pilot. The pilot has to work with the aircraft dispatcher via radio, while moving the airplane. Other important job responsibilities include reporting to air route control stations via radio.rnThe earning potential as an airplane pilot coupled with the ecstasy this field generates is immense. Many children as well as teenagers dream of becoming a pilot but are clueless as to what will get them close. Education Prerequisites Graduation, mostly engineering education is preferred to apply for a flight school. License Aspects The commercial pilot license is the ticket required to fly airplanes, for which a person needs to have more than 250 hours of flight experience and has to pass strict physical and eyesight based examinations. FAA conducts written tests as well as practical tests corresponding to the license. The other license they require is the airline transport license, for which the minimum age is 23, combined with 1500 hours of flight time (this has to accommodate night and instrument flying). Employment FAA, Federal Aviation Administration employs airplane pilots. Apart from commercial pilots, other types of pilots include business pilots, agriculture pilots, firefighters and defense pilots. In terms of career growth, pilots can move positions; they can become airline administrators or air traffic controllers. They have an option of opening air schools as well. Salary Aspects Considering the salary cycles from the 1st year of employment to later stages, one thing can be concluded – the salary per annum is more than 5 to 6 times of what airline pilots gets as the starting salary. Actually this happens with every profession, but not many professions can get you around 40,000 $ per annum at the start of your career.
