Castors in the Airport
Written by Mark Farrell
Let us talk about Castors in the airport? You may be wondering what a castor is? Yea, you know those guys that walk around...no we are just kidding. A castor is the tiny wheel attached to the bottom of equipment of all sorts. These wheels turn easy and allow an object to be moved around with ease. They are a great invention and have been helping folks in tons of places make life a lot easier. They are used a lot in airports.
Seriously, walk through an airport and look around. See how many carts, tables, suitcases and so much more have Castors on them. You will see them everywhere. You will see these little wheels of all sizes from miniscule to big ones and you will also see why we say they are a great invention. You will see why life would be a lot harder without these castor wheels.
What kinds of Castors are used in airports? How about luggage carts? They are on the carts so that people and workers can load the cart with luggage and they can still be moved with ease, even clear across the airport. If they did not have these carts with castor wheels people would have to carry a lot of heavy luggage from terminal to terminal, or to and from their car. This would be too much like hard work.
They are used on racks and tables that have to be moved often. They are used on hand trucks in the employee part of the airport so that supplies and so on can be moved from one place to another. They are used in kitchens and dining areas for serving foods and on tables that can be moved with ease.
Where else you might see these castor wheels at an airport? How about on the airplane themselves? Or rather inside the airplane. When the flight attendant comes through with food and drinks she pushes the product along on a cart. There are wheels on these carts. It makes it much easier for the flight attendant to maneuver through the airplane aisles. Do you know how long it would take a flight attendant to carry stuff to one person at a time? Too long! The flight would be over before you got your lunch.
Now that you have stopped and thought about it I bet you can remember seeing these Castors at an airport in places that we have not even mentioned. They are everywhere. It is not something that you think about, but castor wheels are an invention that has made life in the airport much more pleasant for all involved.
