A basic principle of life is change and growth. Science tells us: Nothing stays the same. The flower bud changes and blooms into its own colorful expression. Like the bud, our own creative expression needs time for inner growth. We change and grow from the inside out. Inner growth leads us to take different actions with different results. We are evolving a new self with each choice. From science and nature we gain a new way of seeing ourselves and our world.

We are Light Beings living in a vibrational Universe.
From science we know that energy exists everywhere all the time. This energy connects each one of us and all living things. Light or energy vibrates. It has a resonance or frequency. Harold Saxon Burr, a Yale physiologist, proved that each living entity transmits and receives photons of light. Most important, he discovered that an entity transmits and receives photons of light according to its level of consciousness. Every thought, word and action causes a biochemical reaction that changes our vibratory rate and level of consciousness. At our most basic level, we are vibrating particles of light. We walk the earth in a glowing bubble of light.

Our surroundings quietly affect us in every moment.
Many of us decorate our homes with plants and flowers. We feel their uplifting effect on us and our environment. A woodland walk has an even more powerful, energetic effect on our state of being. The energy emitted by this verdant place affects our mood, our immune system and the self we’re becoming. It flows into the core of our being. We feel our body begin to relax and our mind open to the here and now. These changes happen in real time. Nature’s energy transforms us. Through our connection to everything in the Universe, we change and grow as we move from one environment to another. Our surroundings do matter.

Walks alone in natural surroundings renew us.
Some call this meditation practice an open-eye meditation. Imagine stepping away from the world into lush, green woodland. See the sunlight streaming through its canopy. Feel the warm sun on your face. Hear the small birds chirping and smell the earthy scent in the air. Take time to touch a wildflower that catches your eye. The big trees bless you from above with their light. You bless all things as you pass. Breathe deeply and relax. Breathing brings you back to center. Thoughts and cares melt away. You begin to soften and change. Joy and peace grow from within. A new you emerges and returns to the world.

We feel the magical effects of nature deep within us. From modern science we understand these effects are real. Nature’s energy flows through us and literally creates a new self in real time. We are transformed. Give yourself the gift of inner peace. Spend time alone in a garden or woodland, on a mountain or by the sea. Anywhere that you enjoy. You will nurture your personal growth with this practice. You will reconnect with Earth and your true Self.
