Chardham Tour

Chardham is the term given to the four religious sites situated in the state of Uttarakhand. Located amidst snow capped mountains of Himalayas, these venerated places are Gangotri, Yamunotri, Badrinath and Kedarnath. Known as the most important Hindu pilgrimage circuit in the country, these are the abode of shrines, dedicated to different Hindu deities. Tour to Chardham

The Chardham tour shall be visited from Left to Right – beginning from Yamunotri, going to Gangotri, Kedarnath and ending the journey at Badrinath. This route follows the Hindu tradition of parikrama or clockwise circumambulation.

Yamunotri

The sacred shrine of Yamunotri, source of the river Yamuna which originates from the Champasar Glacier lying 1 km ahead of the shrine at an altitude of 4,321 mts. Yamnotri is the westernmost shrine in the Garhwal Himalayas. Dedicated to Goddess yamuna it is perched atop a flank of the Bandar Poonch peak and is situated opposite to Gangotri.

Gangotri

Gangotri temple is located near Gaumukh Glacier, the source of sarced river the Ganges Along the right bank of Bhagirathi stands the shrine of Gangotri dedicated to the Goddess Ganga. Perched at a height of 3.042 mts. It is considered to be the most sacred spot where Ganga, the stream of life touched earth for the first time

Kedarnath

Kedarnath is the seat of Lord Shiva. It is one of the twelve "Jyotirlingas" of Lord Shiva. Lying at an altitude of 3.581 mts above sea level on the head of river Mandakini, the shrine of Kedarnath is amongst the holiest pilgrimage for the Hindus. The origin of the revered temple can be found in the great epic - Mahabharata.

Badrinath

Also known as the Vishal Badri, the largest among the five Badris, it is revered by all as the apt tribute to Lord Vishnu. On the right bank of alaknanda lies the sacred spot perched at an altitude of 3,133 meters above the sea level. Encircled by a beautiful valley, the 15 mts. high temple is dedicated to lord Vishnu. It is built in the form of a cone with a small cupola and spire.
