Childhood: A Time That Rejuvenates Our Future Life

“Childhood is measured out by sounds and smells and sights, before the dark hour of reason grows”. Childhood is that golden period of life that rejuvenates us whenever we feel nostalgic. This period of our life travels with us throughout our whole life span. A single scratch on this golden frame can destroy the life beauty of a person. Childhood is a time when kids grow and become mature. Their mental and physical level grows and they are able to learn and explore new things during that time. To cope up with the competitive world, parents and schools often pressurize.

In schools a huge pressure of studies and work are put on children. While there is empirical evidence that parent factors have a positive association with, or facilitate, children's achievement, there has also been great concern that parents' unrealistic expectations create pressure and foster performance anxiety in their children. Stress is a necessary thing in every child’s life as it adds flavor, challenge and opportunity to their world. In the right dose, stress can be healthy or even enjoyable. Though it provides many benefits, but it can be very damaging for children when stress becomes excessive. It can help children’s health, happiness, work performance, relationships and personal development. It can make them more aggressive and impatient.

The causes of stress are the competitive circumstances, exams and parental pressure. The pressure to get good grades is sometimes caused by parents who want their children to go to a good institute or get scholarships. Some children become so mentally and physically exhausted that there comes a point when they take some drastic actions. Sometime they become depressed or rebel from the pressure to get good grade and many a times when this stress becomes unbearable, few children come to find their lives very hard and commit suicide.

Modern day scholars are stressing on the emerging problem that teachers and parents should provide a free platform to children where they can explore the world in their own way. But it doesn’t mean that they should not be guided. Growing minds always need support and direction to live their life properly. The parents and teachers should try to understand the psychology of the children and should provide a supportive hand to make children understand their conce
and love. It is said that love can heal anything. So it’s better to treat children with love and affection so that childhood can remain with them as a golden memory throughout their lives.
