Choosing a Stream Is Not Easy in High Schools

Though the board exams of class X is one and the first horrifying experience for students, but the gladness is equivalent to winning the battle of Panipat. Students who prove them and get colorful marks are recognized as bright students and just the opposite happens with them who flunk in their exams. However, soon the scenario changes when it comes to pick up a stream to move further. Choosing of subjects in class XI becomes really a tough job, isn’t it? No need to be upset because you are not the odd one out in the crowd.

Many students go through this unsettling situation once in their life. Parents no less stay behind to confuse their kids which stream to choose. Though sad but it has become quite obvious these days that a student scoring more than 80% will definitely go for Science and students scoring between 60%-80% will either join commerce or humanities. But who can fight with the weird psychology of this generation of parents who think if their kids chose Science stream only then they can cope up with the level of elite class of the society.

Do you think studying other subjects is useless? Does it mean even William Shakespeare was not worth enough because Science was not his cup of tea as well? Dear Parents, it’s the time to change your ideologies. It’s not going to work anymore because this is 21^st century. So, please let your kids breathe freely and take decisions on their own. Let them ask themselves what they are good in. Doors in the job market are open for all the three streams. It’s just they should judge their eligibility. Why do parents worry then? Are you focused about your career goal? If yes then it is believed that you are not the confused on from the bunch.

Pretty new subjects like biotechnology, psychology, anthropology and education, are accessible in schools currently. Though, options of subjects change with schools and the boards they are affiliated to. Students get exposure in all the three streams. Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has introduced three new courses such as Mass Media, Geospatial Practices and Hotel Management in few schools of the country.

These courses help the students in their further professional careers. According to the words of Chairman of CBSE, Ashok Ganguly, there would be there more courses such financial transaction management, healthcare and fashion designing introduced in the schools. These courses will help the students to get exposure of the professional courses from an early level and get rid from the monotonous courses that they chose forcibly.
