Chronic prostatitis infecting the bladder

The term prostatitis refers to the infection & inflammation of the prostate gland. This gland features a walnut shaped organ in the male reproductive system which is located beneath the bladder in males. This organ plays a vital role in producing a fluid for semen that helps to dispose the sperm out of the body, only when men ejaculate. This deficiency leads to immense pain & difficulties while urinating.

• Types:

1.Acute bacterial prostatitis:

It occurs suddenly leading to prostate inflammation. There are various symptoms observes like minor infection in the urinary tract, accelerated frequency of urination, sensing pain in the area around pelvis & genitals. Some people have fever, chills, nausea & inflammation while urinating.

It needs to be properly treated with intravenous antibiotics pain-killers as it can lead to infections in the bladder, clogging in the urinal flow. If ignored, it can prove fatal.

2.Chronic bacterial prostatitis:

This occurs due to cyclic infections in the urinary tract which are present in the prostate gland. Usually the symptoms are similar like the acute prostatitis, but the diagnosis is a tougher one. It can be treated with antibiotics for three months.

3.Chronic nonbacterial prostatitis:

Also referred to as chronic pelvic pain syndrome, it accounts for immense pain in the genitals & while urinating. There are no bacteria in the urine, but a sense of inflammation.

4.Asymptomatic inflammatory prostatitis:

There are no symptoms & can be diagnosed while conducting tests for other problems.

• Symptoms:

a.Immense pain while urinating.
b.Frequent infections in the bladder.
c.Pain while making love.
d.Discomfort in the abdomen, penis, and testicles.
e.Chills or fever.

• Causes:

Previously, this illness was considered to be a sexually transmitted disease, but today, it’s not. Bacteria make its way into the gland from the urethra due to reverse flow of the affected urine.

• Remedial techniques:

a.Application of anti-inflammatory drugs & method of sitting in tub-filled with warm water for about 2-3 inches is an effective way to treat chronic prostatitis.

b.Medications to relive pain & providing relaxation for the muscles.

c.Physical activities like kegal exercises help to improve the pelvic muscles which decrease such symptoms.

d.Surgical methods to remove the affected regions of the gland can be advised relating to the severe cases of chronic prostatitis.
