What is Circumcision?
Circumcision can be considered as the most common surgical procedure in which foreskin is removed from the penis. This surgery is mostly performed on newly born infants attributed to cultural ritual or religious belief. In some cases, it is owing to preventive healthcare or personal hygiene. In this surgery, the skin covering the head of the penis is removed using specially designed medical equipment.
Benefits of Circumcision
Though, this surgery is not mandatory for all men including infants and adults. It is individuals or his family’s personal decision to go for this medical procedure. Following are some of the health benefits, which can gain traction among individuals:
In males, the risk of urinary infections is expected to be quite low. Sometimes uncircumcised males are likely to face such infections, which can lead to kidney problems later on.
Circumcision is likely to make it easy for males to wash their penis easily, which can clearly improve hygiene.
Men who have undergone this surgery are expected to have a lower risk of several sexually transmitted infections including highly infected virus (HIV).
In some situations, the foreskin can be difficult or impossible to retract (phimosis). It can lead to inflammation of head or foreskin of the penis.
Penis cancer is quite a rare disease and is less common in men who have under the surgery.
Risks Associated with the Surgery
Where there are multiple benefits associated with circumcision, there are few risks too. Following are a few problems related to this surgery:
Medical Device for Circumcision
Alisklamp can be considered as a technologically advanced disposable clamp device that can be used to perform the surgery. The device is launched recently in India to enhance safety. After cleaning the penis, local anesthesia is given to the patient. The device is expected to have two different parts, plastic clamp, and a plastic tube. During surgery, the plastic tube is applied over the glans and the extra skin is pulled over the tube. A plastic clamp is then placed over the pulled foreskin. Now, the extra foreskin is cut and removed without any bleeding or pain.
