The Civil Services Aptitude Test 2012 will be conducted by the Union Public Service commission of India in order to select eligible candidates for the Civil Services main exam, 2012. The UPSC has introduced a new exam scheme and syllabus from the year 2011 and candidates who want to successfully crack the IAS Prelims 2012 must have a detailed and thorough understanding and knowledge about the pattern and syllabus of the exam. The candidates must keep in mind that the marks obtained in CSAT 2012 will make them eligible for the main exam only and will not have any part in determining the final standings.
According to the new exam pattern introduced by UPSC CSAT 2012 will be comprised of two papers, General Studies Paper I and II of 200 marks each and Paper I will carry 100 questions while Paper II will carry 80 questions. The General Studies Paper I will carry questions from
* National and international current affairs
* Indian history and history of Indian national movement
* Social, physical and economical geography of the country as well as the world
* Indian polity and Indian constitution
* Socio-economic development of India and
* General Science.
The areas covered by General Studies Paper II of the IAS Prelims 2012 are
* English Comprehension Skill
* Communication and interpersonal skill
* Analytical and logical reasoning ability
* Decision making quality along with problem solving skill and
* Mental ability along with data interpretation and basic numeracy
This new pattern of syllabus Civil Services Aptitude test has been introduced by the UPSC in order to recruit better professionals in various top notch positions in different departments and ministries of Government of India and candidates require extensive preparation to successfully crack the toughest professional exam of the country.
According to the UPSC the new syllabus and pattern of IAS Prelims will help the commission to find candidates with higher mental aptitude that is the basic criteria of holding such responsible positions. The syllabus for the Indian Civil Services exam covers a wide variety of subjects and at the same time is extremely demanding to the mental ability of the candidate. But every year hundreds of aspiring candidates successfully cracks all the three stages of the exam and get appointed at the most honored and lucrative government sector jobs in the country. Successful candidates at CSAT 2012 will be allowed to sit for the civil services main exam.
