Clearing the misconceptions about SEO
Written by James Blatt
According to industry statistics, a website gets approximately forty percent of visitor traffic from placement by search engines. Word of mouth or viral marketing gets it an approximate thirty five percent. This viral marketing origin can be traced back to the engine. Therefore, an approximate total of sixty per cent of total visitor traffic to the website can be ascribed to search results. This data, by the way, holds true for the first thirty matches. Visitor arrivals for the top five or ten matches are considerably higher. The higher the ranking, the greater the visitors count.
This brings us to the fundamental question: what is SEO? It is simply a process or steps or procedures that is undertaken to make a web page or a collection of web pages more attractive to visitors as well as search engines. The aim is to make a particular term rank high in the results that are returned after a visitor types a search string into the search that is considered at that time.
As a business owner, you must remember that you are competing against other peer websites. Your aim is not to fool the search procedure. This distinction is important- most people forget it in the mad rush to get top rankings. rnA number of misconceptions exist in the SEO business. Foremost is the legend that submission and optimizing is one and the same. If you believe so- then you are wrong. The fact is that submission is a necessary part of SEO. But, let it be known that just submitting a site would not get you listed. It can be considered as an application to a to include a site in the index. Many search engines will simply ignore the website if links from other domains does not point towards it.
As a website owner, it is recommended that you submit only new pages. You can also submit pages that have changed significantly. Ensure that the daily submission limit per domain for a search is not exceeded. For example, if the concerned engine accepts only four per day, and you have to submit six, keep the remaining two to be submitted another day. You can also resubmit web pages. This is not useful. If you do it, just remember not to over submit it. It is not a way to increase your search rankings.
A SEO professional is required to optimize a website. The reason is that they have the experience and the planning to make the activity a successful one. A good plan means a long term positive change.
