These trials are of two types. There are the phase one trials and the phase two trials. In face one; healthy volunteers are used for the studies. They help in determining the absorption level of the drug in question, its interaction with human body and even the side effects that it could have. It is also during this phase that the experts know what effects different kinds of food have on the drug while in the body. It is a phase that helps in giving the directions of use in case the drug proves to be a better treatment for what it is intended for.

In the second phase, patients suffering from the condition the drug has been developed for are used. It is a phase that helps in determining whether it has promising results as far as treating that particular condition is conce
ed. The volunteers used for this phase are normally those with moderate and mild forms of the condition in question. The drugs will mostly be for high blood pressure, asthma and diabetes among other conditions that people suffer from greatly.

The two phases or types of clinical trials are very important and they are conducted professionally. This means that even though you could be a volunteer suffering from the condition the treatment is meant for, you can be sure that you won’t end up becoming sicker after the trials. The trials are however not a guarantee that the sick volunteers will get better from the treatment.
