Common Hair Mistakes you are Making and How to Fix Them?
Hair extensions can be a lot of fun since they can completely alter your look in an instant but what you might not be aware of is the fact that there are some common bella hair extension mistakes that you are making.
Hair extensions are a blessing for women with short hair. After all, you have the right to enjoy hair of different lengths and switch it up whenever you want to. Owing to our primal instincts, and love of change we all want to sport healthy long hair that flows meters away from our back. Though, of course, women with short hair also get added volume, but it is actually the length that is the biggest achievement that we get from applying for hair extensions. Whether you are using clip-ins or halo extensions you will be able to see an instant change within less than 5 minutes, sometimes.

However, you might be ruining the chances of longevity for your hair extensions by doing some things that are detrimental to them. Here are some of the common hair extension mistakes you are unknowingly making, and how you can fix them:

Washing Hair Soon After Applying For Tape-in Extensions

When it comes to tape-in hair extensions, in fact, any hair extensions, the golden rule is that you should understand everything about them. You can do your research by yourself or ask your hairstylist for help. This is especially true if you are getting tape-in attached to your hair. These come with adhesives attached to the weft and so you will need to be extra careful once you have them installed. The right time to wash your hair after having your tape-in extensions applied is 72 hours. This gives the adhesive plenty of time to set, and if you can leave your hair 3 days without washing then that is even better.

Also remember that when you are washing your hair on the day of the application you just shampoo it, and skip the conditioner. Do not use any product in your hair that is bound to make it look smooth and shiny. This will cause the tape to slip out because of the water-soluble silicone present in it. That is why, just apply shampoo, and if you can wash your hair the day before then it is even better.

Being Too Rough With The Extensions

No matter what hair extensions you wear, being too rough with them will always be extremely detrimental to their lifespan and texture. Hair extensions are an investment that you to truly understand before you invest in a set. If you are too rough in handling them then you will start to notice flaws in them within a short span of time, and feel that you were duped by the provider. Make sure that you are not brushing your hair too rough otherwise the hair extensions might shed more than usual. It is similar to pulling too hard at your natural hair, it is bound to fall out. Make sure to choose the right type of hairbrush and go through it gently untangling the knot. You can also use a detangling spray if the knot is too tough to get through. Just make sure that you are not using too much product. The same goes for washing your hair. Make sure that you are gentle on your scalp and hair strands, even if you are not wearing extensions.

Not Putting Away Short Pieces Of Your Natural hair

This important. You don’t want the smaller pieces of your hair sticking out like a sore thumb. That is one of the biggest giveaways when you are wearing hair extensions. We are mostly talking about those with short hair like bobs. A lot of us do not realize this but the shorter hair strands are usually sticking out of the back of your head whenever you are wearing hair extensions and then pull them forward. However, it is nothing to worry about. All you need to do is braid them and then pin them with bobby pins.
A lot of care and maintenance goes in keeping up your hair extensions and making sure that they do not get damaged overtime.
