You have a swimming pool and naturally you want children to handle it safely. Few things are as cute as a frolicking child by the pool. Yet you can't lose sight of your dangles there for a second. Where does it often go wrong when you go swimming with your children?
Although you are watching them as closely as possible, you cannot see everything. That's why you can read more about alarm systems and how to teach your children to swim safely.
1. "My child is too young to swim"
Let your child get acquainted with the water as early as possible. After nine months in the amniotic fluid, the pool is a bit like coming home for your child. Pick up again quickly!
2. "Belts are a good way to teach my child to swim"
Wrong! Swimming belts are only a very small part of the swimming process. They often even give children a false sense of security. Moreover, a skipping child usually falls into the swimming pool without straps, because those straps are quickly removed as soon as they are out of the water.
3. "Nothing happens to my child"
No Child is safe in the swimming pool. Even adults can slip. The 'no-run-by-the-pool!' Rule is not for nothing.
4. "The lifeguard is careful"
A lifeguard is often alone and with two eyes it is difficult to keep an eye on a hundred children at the same time. Therefore always keep an eye on yourself.
5. 'I can walk away for a moment."
No. That is not possible. A lot can happen in two minutes, so never leave your children alone, especially if they don't have a swimming diploma yet. Do you have to go to the toilet? Then ask your children if they will come with you.
6. "The pool is safe"
Guidelines also apply to swimming pools. Does the pump and drainage systems meet all requirements? Don't be afraid to request more information from an employee about the safety of swimming pool.
7. "What to do if my child needs help"
It is really advisable to follow a first aid course. That way you know what to do, you panic less quickly and you act more purposefully. You can follow such a course and there are also courses that focus on first aid for babies and young children.
8. "The pool at our holiday home does not need a fence"
Often you do not immediately check whether there is a fence around the pool of your holiday home. However, this is much safer. In America it is even mandatory, so pay attention when you book a house.
9. “Can’t find your child right away, what first check in”
No matter how alert you think you are, you are and will always be human. It can therefore happen that you lose sight of your child for a moment. Do not rush outside immediately, first check the swimming pool. Your offspring is probably playing in a corner somewhere, but children are unpredictable and you do not want to run the risk that they have fallen into the water.
