Composite doors don't require maintenance

How often do you find yourself making a list of things to do, and putting off painting your doors and window frames for as long as possible? It is a long and arduous job, and because it will probably require several coats it is not something that you can just do and get it out of the way.

It will take up both days of a weekend, and waiting for some good weather (but not too good, as you're probably going to want to go out or have a barbeque if it is really sunny) so you can spend both days outdoors painting is a bit of a pain. Worse still, it is something that you are going to have to do again next year, and the year after, and you will start to notice the need for it to be done as soon as we have had some particularly horrible weather like some thunderstorms, some snow, or the inevitable British rainy seasons that we call autumn and winter.

UPVC composite doors, as opposed to their older wooden panelled cousins, require comparatively little maintenance. There is no need to ever paint or varnish them, whether for aesthetic reasons or to ensure that they stay waterproof. Unlike wooden doors they are also very unlikely to warp and change shape in their frames, which can make a door made of wood difficult to open and close; they also will not slip down on their hinges which can have the same effect; as well as the difficulty in opening, doors that have slipped can quite easily let a draft in through the gaps, which is not particularly helpful when you are trying to keep your house warm over the winter.

That's the great thing about UPVC composite doors; because they are such good insulators, once you have gotten them installed you don't have to ever worry about them again. They will sit there quite comfortably keeping your hard earned heat energy inside your house, meaning that you can turn your central heating off much sooner and not pay nearly so much on your heating bill.

Because of this UPVC composite doors and windows can quite easily pay for themselves within a few years, which means there really is no reason not to consider their insulation before the winter weather comes this year. When spring comes and you don't have to paint them you will already think it was well worth it.
