Concussion Coping: 3 Easy Ways To Get Back On Your Feet Again
Written by Emma Sturgis
A concussion is a traumatic brain injury that occurs as a result of a bump, blow, or hit to the head. The force causes the brain to move back and forth quickly and bounce around. It is a medical condition that can be serious. Serious concussions can make you have problems with concentration, memory, and staying awake. It can really affect your way of life. Recovering from a concussion can take time; therefore, here are 3 easy ways to get back on your feet again after having a concussion.
Get Lots Of Rest
You need to relax and take it easy. Do not conduct any strenuous activities, and do not push yourself too hard. Lay in bed, on the couch, or recline in a chair. Put your feet up and drink lots of liquids. Try not to think too much as your body not only needs rest, but your brain does as well. Avoid activities that require strenuous brain function. Let up on doing the household chores. You definitely do not want to make any big decisions while you are recovering.
See A Personal Injury Lawyer
If your concussion was the result of the negligence of a third party, contact a personal injury lawyer, like the professionals at Clearfield & Kofsky, to help you file a claim. You can claim damages for a concussion. The injury might have occurred at the workplace or on someone else’s property. Make sure you get the diagnosis of a physician. You could receive compensation for pain and suffering and medical bills. If you missed time at work, you could receive lost wages compensation and possibly future lost wages. This could be a needed step to help get you back on your feet again.
Treat The Injury
If you have a head injury, it needs to be treated. Get an ice back and put it on your head. Take pain relievers, such as Tylenol, Ibuprofen, or Advil. If you have a wound, make sure it is clean and treated. The injury needs to heal before you can get back on your feet.
A concussion can be cause by tripping and falling or getting a blow to the head. The brain is more fragile after this type of injury, so avoid activities that could cause you to re-injure your brain. Repeated concussions can cause lingering problems. Therefore, it is important to fully recover from the injury, so you can get back on your feet again and resume a normal life.Article author
