Parenting is a multifaceted responsibility. We are charged with everything from the most mundane of tasks such as insuring our children keep their room clean, to tasks that could challenge a five star general. Sometimes simply breaking those tasks down into clearly understandable components can help us accomplish them with ease.

Preschoolers often have a difficult time with transitions - switching abruptly from one task to another can often be very stressful for young children and result in melt downs. So the next time your child is playing, for example, give them a five minute and one minute warning before telling them it's time to clean up the toys.

Don't force your child to study only one subject at a time. Studies show that humans learn better if they study two or more subjects at a time. This gives the brain a short period of rest to absorb material, and our brains also learn more effectively when subjects are integrated.

Know who you kids are hanging out with. Children are influenced so easily that you have to make sure to take the time to get to know the people that they consider to be their friends. If you do not think that they are in good company, be sure to find a way to get them away from that person.

Sometimes as a parent it pays to trust your intuition. Kids can make pretty convincing arguments and given certain circumstances their points may be valid. On the other hand, as an adult, it's important to trust your initial instincts when it comes to matters which you're experienced, at least in part, on. With youth comes inexperience, and it's a parents job to guide their children to avoid the same mistakes.

You have to be determined when you are dealing with a child that is strong-willed. A strong-willed child needs a parent that is just as determined to help them to understand that everything can not work out the way that they want it to. It is hard to be tough with your child but in the long run it is important for them to have proper development.

Stick to a flexible routine and schedule. Try to plan meals at about the same time each day. The same is true for nap time and bed time. Children respond well to a routine. Their bodies physically adapt to it and their time clock will, in time, automatically respond to it.

Many children hate the bitter, chalky, or sour taste of commonly prescribed liquid antibiotic medications and vitamin and mineral supplements. Ask your pharmacist about medication flavoring options; some medicines can be prepared with a bitte
ess suppressor and sweetening agent. Popular flavors include cherry, banana, bubble gum, and even chocolate silk pie.

Make sure you're encouraging good habits from the beginning. Whether it's hygiene or behavioral habits, you want to encourage your child to learn the right behaviors right from the start. It's much easier to teach a child good habits right away than to try and get them to unlea
habits to learn different ones.

A vital part of parenting is paying attention to all car safety regulations pertaining to young children and ensuring that you always have an appropriate safety seat for your child's age. By making sure your child is properly restrained every time they travel, you will be able to greatly reduce the risk of serious injury.

Clearly identifying what it is that we expect from our children and how we envision them meeting those expectations is an indispensable component of parenting. This article strives to help us do just that. The goal is to enhance the relationship between a parent and a children while still accomplishing parental responsibilities.
