A medical assisting job is a great entry-level way of getting into the health care industry, and you don’t need a University degree to do it. Qualified medical assistants often also work in the Back Office helping patients directly by taking blood samples, operating specialized medical equipment like EKG machines, and measuring the patient’s vital statistics, like heart rate and blood pressure, on behalf of the doctor.

Not only is this a rewarding career, but it also pays well too. MAs can earn up to $30,000 a year – of course the longer you’ve been working, and the higher your level of qualification, then the higher your salary will be.

There are hundreds of colleges right across America that specialize in medical assistant training, and most of them have financial aid programs for students as well. And if you prefer learning online then there are plenty of online courses available as well.

There's a wide range of setting in which MAs work, from large hospitals, all the way down to the local doctor’s offices.
