Conversational hypnosis is best described as a series of manipulations and carefully choreographed strategies designed to change a person’s beliefs or habits by conversing with them. Through the actions and conversations done, the subject becomes hypnotized without them realizing it. Conversational hypnosis is one of the most subtle forms of hypnosis available today, and once you can perfect your act, this can be a very powerful tool that you can use in business and in everyday life. There are certain principles that form the foundation of conversational hypnosis. When done incorrectly or with the wrong sequence, you will find that conversational hypnosis will not be successful. Being successful at conversational hypnosis also requires a lot of time and practice. If you want to be successful with this kind of hypnosis technique, it’s best recommended to study its principles so that you will be clear how it works, and then try this on someone close to you. Here are its principles: • The first most important aspect in making conversational hypnosis work is creating a relaxed and laid-back ambiance for your subject. If your subject is under stress or distracted by noise and other factors, they will not be able to be hypnotized. It is necessary for them to feel relaxed in order to have a good conversation with you. • You must be able to establish a sense of affinity towards your subject. That’s why this kind of hypnosis is best performed with someone you are close to, someone you love and who feels the same way about you. Without this level of trust, there won’t be honesty and they won’t be able to open up to you and you won’t be able to succeed with conversational hypnosis. • Creating rapport is another essential principle for conversational hypnosis. This is all about letting your subject feel confident and good about the conversation. Try to bring up a conversation you know they feel good about, in order to bring about a state of joy and trust in them, which will also lead to them discussing this freely. The main goal for this step is to get them to the desired state of consciousness – making them feel happy, trustworthy, and confident. • Once your subject has reached the desired state of consciousness, you can proceed with the main act in conversational hypnosis – actually conversing with him/her. At this point, their mind is open to just about any suggestions you can make, but subtlety is the key to effective conversational hypnosis. Try bringing up stories that you commonly know, and try to make connections to the subject. For example, you are trying to persuade your subject to come along to a fishing trip they had originally said no to. You can try saying, “Hey, remember that fishing trip John planned out for us?” When saying this, try to put a gentle emphasis on “fishing trip” and make subtle suggestions on why you think they should go. Conversational hypnosis is also all about the timing. You will need to know your subject well and recognize which time he’s ready to give in and agree. Conversational hypnosis is simple once you’ve done practice, and soon enough you’ll be able to get anyone to agree with you.

Questioner: If we surrender to the great souls that lived thousands of years ago, can that be considered surrender? Can we make any progress through such surrender or do we need to surrender to a living great man? Dadashri: You can progress even through Paroksha (indirectly- one not currently living). However if you find such a living (Pratyaksh) person, then your liberation will be instant. The indirect approach will give you the benefit of progress but there is no liberatio
