The purpose of any business organization goes beyond financial value creation for its stakeholders. When it comes to corporate ethics and social responsibility, companies all over the world are expected to demonstrate good work towards the society and the environment. It is their duty to operate as a responsible corporate citizen. Ethics in business is more than just talking about good work. It is all about doing the right thing by maintaining a balance between financial goals and moral responsibilities. From the business point of view, social responsibility can be considered a part of ethical behavior. But there are millions of organizations all over the world that aren’t willing to really make a difference for people besides their company. Every company can benefit from various forms of social responsibility. Companies should perform their operations and try giving back what they can. From taking up social welfare projects, redesigning potentially harmful products to promotion of recycling, there is a lot involved in corporate ethics and social responsibility. The concept of social responsibility is said to have emerged during the 1960s when people started becoming aware of the role of business in maintaining ethical practices towards society and the environment. Initially, business organizations viewed the concept of corporate ethics and social responsibility merely in terms of internal rules adherence and administrative compliance. But today the situation has changed. Companies are realizing the importance of integrating ethical practices into business functions. They are becoming aware of the fact that they need to win the confidence and value of their consumers in order to succeed. With professional firms and businesses being held responsible for their actions, the demand for high levels of CSR is growing steadily. With the advancement in technology, many companies are now talking about this innovative concept through traditional and online communications. In the last few years, the international market has expanded considerably, resulting in ethical difficulties at work. But companies need to overcome this issue and develop corporate ethics and social responsibility within their business agenda. A modern approach is required to integrate both concepts into day to day business activities.
