In just a decade we have seen a massive change in the way that kitchens are design. Traditionally kitchens were one of the largest rooms in the house. Not only did all cooking occur in traditional kitchens, people ate socialised and even slept in the kitchen. In our climate the room to be in is the warmest in the house and an old fashioned stove had just that effect in the kitchen. Sadly modern living gradually meant that the kitchen became a less significant room in many houses. Another problem was that kitchens became smaller which meant that it couldnt be used in the same way any more. This trend could not continue though, and happily traditional kitchens are once again becoming extremely popular. Many people think of their dream kitchen as a bustling and welcoming farmhouse kitchen and this seems to have inspired a lot of kitchens built recently. After building small kitchens for many years we have a problem now that people want large, spacious kitchens. Where does that space come from? Getting planning permission and finding the money to build an extensions can be hard, but for most people it is the only way that they can get the space they want for their kitchen. The perfect solution though is extending the kitchen by building lean to conservatories instead. Having the kitchen open out into a conservatory gives a clear feeling of extending the kitchen and at times even doubling its size. Traditional kitchens normally have a big dining space and it makes perfect sense to put that in the new conservatory and to keep the main cooking area where the old kitchen was. Any style of conservatory could be used to enhance your kitchen, but lean to conservatories are particularly good for a number of reasons. If price is a factor lean to conservatories can be a great option as their simple design makes them cheaper than many other styles. Another key point is that their presence, close to the wall of your house, means that extending electricity and plumbing to the new conservatory is easier (as they often are right to the side of the house anyway.) Using a conservatory to extend your kitchen can save a lot of money and actually give you a delightfully light and airy room to enjoy family meals in. I love al fresco meals in the summer. Wouldnt it be lovely if all year around you could enjoy eating with a perfect view of the outdoors while remaining in the comfort of your kitchen?

Sometimes, it’s not what you see, but what you feel. Ever notice how some buildings just feel solid? No creeping unease. No instinct telling you to check for the nearest exit. Just a quiet, unshakable sense that you’re in a place built to protect. That feeling isn’t random. It’s the result of smart choices—ones made long before anyone steps inside. The materials, the design, the way everything is built to handle the unexpected, even factors like fire ratings that determine
