Dating and Relationships: Be Yourself Man
Written by Timothy Holland
Men, be you when it comes to dating and relationships. Don’t change who you are for anyone. It’ll eventually make you and the woman unhappy.
Often, people try to emulate those that they are not. We see someone on television or in the movies that seems cool to us and try to incorporate some of their traits. Especially if those traits exhibited make them stand out. That’s why many celebrities are considered role models. They play a role, on and off the screen that others want to emulate.
Part of the reason for doing this in dating and relationships is because we see women drawn to men that they find interesting. Since we don’t live the life that these men do and want to impress the ladies we try to incorporate some of it into our own style.
The truth is that we should be ourselves. If you are not the type of person who likes to go out to clubs and party late into the night you don’t have to be. There are other places to meet women besides bars and night clubs. If you aren’t the stay at home type and like the night life then enjoy it. In dating and relationships you have to be true to yourself.
You have to show the woman the real you from day one. Don’t give her an act so that she will go out with you. She will remember that first impression and expect it when you meet again. So if you are not rich, don’t pretend that you are. If you aren’t an extrovert don’t pretend to be the life of the party. Be the same person that you are when you’re alone. This is the person she will eventually see in dating and relationships.
Growing up, we all wanted to be like the coolest celebrity. On the basketball court everyone wanted to be Michael Jordan. In music everyone wanted to rap like L.L. Cool J. We did this to boost our self esteem and to impress the girls. Often times it worked.
Eventually we grow up and have to find our own identity. Contrary to what people might think, we often find this more from the people who raised and taught us. They end up being our real role models, because they know what’s best for us and our talents.
It helps in dating and relationships if you just be yourself. Be the guy who likes to listen to classical music. Be the guy who likes to read mystery novels. Be the guy who likes to write poetry. Be the guy who likes to get his hands dirty. Be the computer geek.
Don’t be the man that you are not. And don’t change for anyone. You will only be living a lie. We need to be ourselves so that the woman knows what to expect from day one.
Dating and relationships do not work when you play a role.

Dr. Venus Nicolino: You Have To Make Yourself Available To Find Good Relationships
The idea of making yourself more desirable by making yourself less available doesn't make a lot of sense when you think about it. After all, Juliet would have plunged a premature dagger into the heart of her romance with Romeo if she hid in her room rather than go out on her balcony. The end of Sleepless in Seattle shifts from "awww" to "aw, no" if one of the two main characters skips the trip to the Empire State Building. As these examples from fiction show, making yourself
