In medicine, a chronic disease is a disease that is long-lasting or recurrent. The term chronic describes the course of the disease, or its rate of onset and development. A chronic course is distinguished from a recurrent course; recurrent diseases relapse repeatedly, with periods of remission in between. As an adjective, chronic can refer to a persistent and lasting medical condition. Chronicity is usually applied to a condition that lasts more than three months. Diabetes is a good example. As of October 7 2007, approximately 1,299,010 people have died from a chronic disease this year. The definition of a disease or causative condition may depend on the disease being chronic, and the term chronic will often, but not always appear in the description:nn• Arthritis n• Chronic fatigue syndrome n• Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease n• Chronic renal failure n• Hepatitis n• Leukemia n• lupus erythematosus n• POTS nnChronic as a metaphor The term "chronic" is often used as a figure of speech, comparing a problem to a chronic disease; one of the more common uses is chronic inflation (in macroeconomics).

Abstract Respiratory infections are becoming increasingly common, and one of the major contributing factors is the rise in air pollution. Polluted air contains harmful particles, chemicals, and toxins that weaken the lungs and reduce the body’s natural defense mechanisms. What Happens When Barometric Pressure Drops? A drop in barometric pressure is common before storms, rainfall, or sudden weather c

Most of the old drugs are currently limited in their effectiveness because of poor pharmacokinetics, simple clearance by the body and cytotoxicity. Nanoparticle technology in particular, Nano drug delivery system is getting a lot of attention and application in medicine in the recent years. Since it is small (1100nm), targets well, and stays in the circulation long enough, NPs are a good candidate as a drug carrier, enabling an enhanced in vivo targeting capability and less n

A relatively common, preventable and curable condition, COPD most often reflects itself in chronic breathing problems and airway obstruction. Its cause is elusive and not well understood. The most important pathological processes involve oxidative stress, protease dysfunction, mitochondrial dysfunction and airway inflammation. Drug and oxygen treatment ar
