People who suffer from severe tooth decay, malignant periodontitis, or root canal therapy failure have a big chance of losing their teeth. As cavities or gum disease spreads in the mouth, the affected teeth must be removed immediately to prevent further infection. In some cases such as periodontitis, the affected teeth prematurely fall out when the surrounding gum tissue is too soft to support them properly. Tooth loss has a huge impact on the overall appearance of the teeth. Those suffering from tooth loss often feel embarrassed when they face other people. They tend to lose their confidence in smiling. Fortunately, cosmetic dentistry offers a solution to their problem. Traditionally, lost teeth are replaced by a removable denture, an artificial dental structure consisting of a gum-form and ceramic-based tooth-form. This is a good solution to tooth loss, but it does not restore the function of the teeth. In addition, imperfect portions of the installation can be highly visible. Many cosmetic dentists in affluent cities like Las Vegas sought for an alternative that can provide both aesthetics and functions. One of the best alternatives available today is the dental implant-supported bridge. A dental implant is a restorative screw-like device that resembles a tooth root. The implant is placed in the gum tissues and the jawbone so that it can provide adequate support for the prosthetic bridge. A Las Vegas dental implant is installed by drilling deep into the gum and on the underlying bone structure. The patient is usually under sedation while the procedure is performed. Most Las Vegas dental implants are made of titanium cylindrical metal with strategic diameter, to prevent the adjacent tooth root from leaning towards the vacated gum region. After the implant is installed, patients protect the fresh wound from infection or injury by avoiding the consumption of hard foods and carbonated beverages. The curing period for the dental implant usually lasts for six months. After six months, the dentist checks if the implant is ready to support the bridge. Most Las Vegas dental implants are designed as screws, while others are designed as sockets that can hold the bridge in place. Once the procedure is complete, the patient gets to enjoy having sturdy tooth structures that functions similarly to natural teeth.
