Most of you probably know this but a diamond is one of the hardest substances available to man. Most of you do know that diamonds are coveted above all natural precious stones. Women value diamonds and we see them on TV all of the time. The size of the diamond on a ring or other piece of jewelry is a status symbol which tells a story about the person who is wearing. Bigger diamonds are coveted by all and are used as a measure of high social standing. Most women will equate the size of their diamond engagement ring with the amount of love that their fiancée has for them. They feel as if he will spend more money if he really loves them.

Now I am saying all of that to make this point. When life throws the next funny curve ball at you consider yourself to be a diamond. Consider the troubles that you are going through to be there to make you. The diamond is the most coveted precious stone but there is a painful process that it has to go through in order to be made. Well not painful to the diamond because it can’t feel but it is painful for you because you can.

A tree which has potential for growth must be pruned before it can produce more fruit. Pruning is a painful process because the branches are cut down low. The pruned tree now produces more limbs and much more fruit than it would have done naturally. You in the same sense must be shaped, pruned, and prepared for the better things in life. Remember this the next time that life throws one of its hard curve balls at you. Notice I didn’t say if but when. Life is hard and each one of us must walk a certain path. There is absolutely nothing that you can do to alter most of your fate so you must be able to deal with it.

Pressure brings out the real you. Adverse circumstances place pressure on those character flaws that you may have and causes them to give way. The same thing happens to the diamond as it is processed. Remember the magnifying glass that the jeweler uses when he examines the diamond. He very seldom finds flaws because the diamond has been through so much pressure. Keep this in mind the next time that you are under pressure and continue to move forward.

When precious metals are refined they are heated until they become molten. This heat causes the metal to separate from the impurities that it contains. The impure material is then easily removed leaving the pure precious metal behind. If you have been processed this way consider yourself to be precious. If the pressure seems to be unbearable remember that you are facing no more than other men and women just like you have gone through. Now everyone may not have gone through the exact trauma that you have but I guarantee you one thing. There are people out there who have gone through far worse than you have and made it through. You can too. You don’t have to consider suicide, drugs, or alcohol, as a cure. There is no cure. The only thing that you can do for some sicknesses is to ride them out. Well trouble is that way all of the time. You have to make whatever adjustments that you need to make but none times out of ten you will just have to go through until you get to the end.

The only difference between you and the famous men of history just may be that you just haven’t had the opportunity to prove what you’re made of. Well now is the time for you to shine. Let adverse circumstances be your stepping stone to greatness. Think of adversity as opportunity. Let the situation that you are in be the thing that shows the world that you have some grit in your craw. Deal with it and win. The Good Life
