The e-commerce sector across the globe has been growing pretty much since it first arrived on the scene. Of course, the industry has also evolved considerably since then and has come to rely on a variety of new-age technologies to enable and assist the countless processes that serve as the foundation of e-commerce. One such technology has carved quite a niche for itself because of its reliability for easy pay in this context — digital wallets. While digital payments have been the rage, the demand for e-wallets has surged considerably, especially in the context of e-commerce. Let’s see some of their benefits to understand their growing popularity.
  1. Improved security: Of course one of the biggest concerns for any e-commerce business is security anyway. Then came newer and more advanced digital payments; while they did make things much easier, the fact remains that they also brought grave concerns about security with them. Thankfully, digital wallets confidently address such concerns; they are already built using a variety of modern security measures and also come integrated with an additional security layer. As a result, when users proceed to make payments for the purchases online, the checkout process is not only greatly simplified but is also rendered properly secure. Essentially replacing credit cards, debit cards, etc., successfully eliminates the risk that comes with their usage.
  2. Streamlined and quicker payments: If you know just one thing about new-age customers, let it be this: They demand the highest levels of service everywhere they go. We will spare you the details about factors that drove this change and instead, focus on what this means for businesses. Well, such high buyer expectations mean they want quicker service and processes. This is especially true for payments, i.e. even the slightest delay can quickly result in cart abandonment. Digital wallets prevent this from occurring since they allow the requisite amount to be directly deducted from the wallet. They also save customers the effort of furnishing their details every single time to make a payment.
  3. Rewards: E-wallets also empower companies to offer distinctive offers, deals, and rewards to their customers. These benefits, be it cashback, special rewards, or some other such thing, not only fosters customer loyalty but also encourages better engagement rates, especially after transactions.
Digital payments are not a new concept; in fact, they have been around for a while now. Hence, as the technology continues to evolve, the world has gained a plethora of advanced new means of executing digital payments, including the aforementioned digital wallets. Now, given the versatility of this particular form of digital payments, it ought to come as no surprise that a rapidly increasing number of users, as well as businesses, have embraced it for daily usage. In fact, according to some recent reports, there are nearly 2.1 billion digital wallet users across the globe. Out of this, 70 percent of the users of this technology are in India and China. But geography aside, the fact remains that now that e-wallets have gained widespread acceptance, it makes sense for companies to undertake mobile wallet app development and set up such a system for their businesses as well. At least if they wish to keep up with this continually evolving and increasingly competitive market.
