Divorce. What About The Children?
Written by Walter Bret
Its a well known fact that children are affected in some manner because of a divorce, even if they or the parents dont realize it. A separation in a family is the most sad thing that can happen to a children, because they need both parents. And sadly, in many cases the children tend to think that they are guilty for the divorce. In order to deal with children who are going through a divorce in a family, its recommended to know a few basic and important things. 1) Spend more time with your kids. This will be a great chance to explain them what is happening and why is this, and you will be also able to express your unconditioned love that you feel towards them. 2) No matter how ugly is the truth, you will have to be honest with them. Trying to make the children to be happier by not telling the whole truth is a bad thing to do, because if the children dont know precisely that from that moment, the parents will be only parents and not husband and wife, they will start to have some hopes that in most of the cases are a waste of time. Telling them the truth and mentioning them as many times as possible that this situation wont change the love for them is the best solution. 3) Avoid the fights in front of your children. A divorce, in other words, is a series of fights. And fights will come again and again, mainly in the first period. The important thing you should remember is to fight when you are alone or at least when you are not surrounded by your children, because this can scare them or they can start worrying. 4) Listen to your children. In case of a divorce, even the children are hurt and they need someone whom they can share their feelings thoughts. Sharing your feelings and thought can make your relationship with them much closer, since they will know that they are not alone. 5) If youre angry, try not to take it out on your children. They are not the guilty ones for the situation. They are also sad, just like you. Beside these things, try to remember that even if you are not a wife/husband anymore, you are a parent and you still have the responsibilities of a parent. Doing these, you and your children will get better sooner than you would think and your life will be more beautiful!
