Do Herbal Remedies for Kidney Stones Really Work?

Kidney Stones are one of the major problems, which suffer many people nowadays in the world. The numbers of patients are increasing day by day. It is most common in under developing countries, It onset is very slow, it become painful when its size increases but it may be not felt for years if it remain small in size. It is most common in young and old people. The people can suffer again and again with this problem even if they have treated it. if this problem become severe then it may be accompanied by bleeding and destruction of kidney tissue. So one should consult physician properly to determine the cause and the pathology of these stones.
The real cause of kidney stones are still unknown to medical experts but it has been said that it occur due to the mineral deposition like calcium, uric acid and amino acid cysteine in the renal tubules of kidney. There are lots of theories which tell us the reason of depositing these stone, but all medical experts agree that kidney stones develop in vegetarians and in people who eat vegetables in excess. Obesity and kidney infection are also considered the cause of stones. It have been also seen that one can suffer this if he got family history of it.
In the world of herbs, it has been said that lemon juice and hydrangea can release this problem but in real these cannot dissolve the stones but they help in eliminating and releasing the pain and cramps that occur due to them. Studies of herbs specialist tell us that goldenrod, joe-pye weed, cramp bark and aptly (Gravel root) are very helpful in reducing pain and spasm. Also they help in elimination of these stones. Amongst them goldenrod is considered most effective herb in treatment ant in getting rid of kidney stones. In Germany it has given official recognition for treatment. Nowadays goldenrod is becoming more popular in most part of Europe. It has been seen that it grow worldwide. In North America it grows in excess but it is not used by the people who lives their. Science studies over the worldwide support the action of goldenrod as an excellent urinary tract herb with maximum effectiveness and cure.
Also Agrimoney, shepherd's purse, horse tail, yarrow, nettles and St john wort can be used in treatment of the bleeding caused by stones. As we know that calcium phosphate deposition can cause stones and they also make the urine alkaline, So cranberries and rose hips help reducing the amount of excessive amount of calcium in kidney tubules, And help in acidifying the urine thus the patient get relief from pain. The herbs meadowsweet, sarsaparilla, joe pye weed and palantin help kidney to get rid of excess uric acid. These have been also used by the Chinese in the treatment of urinary tract diseases. The use of meadowsweet was acknowledged by French medical journal in 1942.
Kidney stones patients should avoid using green tea, Spinach, tomatoes, beet greens, sorrel, chocolate and rhubarb, because these are rich with oxalic acid and they make the urine more alkaline. One should use apple juice, strawberries, cherries, asparagus and nettles to make the urine alkaline if he or she is suffering from uric acid stones, Because later make the urine more acidic.
So in the end it is suggested to kidney stones patients that they should change their diet and should consult their physician regularly. Keep in mind that this problem can get worse.
