First and foremost, you need to understand that the vacancies are fewer in comparison to the number of candidates clearing UGC NET JRF every year. And more vacancies cannot be generated until or unless more institutions are constituted. Therefore, you will have to take it with a pinch of salt that clearing UGC NET JRF does not guarantee a job.

It is not that you will sit idle after having a NET/JRF qualification or your hard work will go to waste. Just understand that, when the Universities have a plethora of options to choose from then what is it that will make you stand out in the crowd? Nowadays only possessing a qualification does not reap benefits, you need to possess some internal skills as well.

If you acquire some intriguing skills pertinent to the job profile then you can hit the goal. For example, if there is a vacancy for a human resource management lecturer then the candidates with NET/JRF in Commerce, as well as candidates with NET/JRF in Management both, become eligible to apply. So then, what skills can you acquire to beat the competition?

The answer is that you can acquire a good command over 2 or 3 subjects in your subject since there are 10 subjects approximately in commerce, and have a very good command over every subject becomes a tedious task. But a good clasp over any 2-3 subjects will help you out in your interview and in getting a job.

I hope this helps you to some extent.
All the Best!!
