In some countries, women shouldn't work after they have children. They should dedicate their time to raising them and taking care of their household. It's claimed that kids get more responsible, if parents have enough time to spend with them and show them what is right and not.

Women Quit Their Jobs After Having Kids

Women believe the most important contribution that they could make for their families is to reduce stress. To be a non working mom is one of the most challenging of careers, because taking care after young kids is extremely difficult. For the majority of society, nobody else can take better care of their kids than themselves. That is the main reason why most women choose to look after their kids. Besides, there are a lot of duties at home as well. Cooking and cleaning the house are amongst them. Reports from the Bureau of Labor Statistics show that 40% of mothers with children under age 6 are quitting their jobs and staying at home. Only about 16 percent of Americans think a full-time working mom is best for the children.

Goodbye Guilt

Harvard Business School published a working paper published June 19 2015 about the correlation between working moms and their daughters. According to it, working moms' daughters are 4.5% more likely to be employed in supervisory positions and earn more money that stay-at-home moms' daughters. Besides, the researchers also found one more significant effect. Sons of working women are more likely to spend more time doing household chores and caring for family members compared to sons of women that stay at home. Hence, working moms create a helpful environment for their kids by affecting their attitudes.

The Positive Consequences of Being a Working Mother

The most interesting thing about this survey is that those striking effects were seen in countries labeled in the study as "stagnating moderates". UK and USA were also included in this category. Especially for US, the income of daughters of working mothers is $5,200 higher than that of daughters of stay-at-home women. Children under 14 whose mothers worked either part-time or full-time for at least a year grow up to have more egalitarian gender views as adults. Also, they are less likely to stick to the classic roles of male breadwinners and female homemakers.

In a conclusion, the working mom is a role model from which kids can learn various lessons that will have enduring, positive effects on children.
