Here is one popular myth of diets, weight and eating that prevents millions people worldwide from conquering overeating and achieving their ideal weight forever:" My overweight problem is genetic; I have a tendency to be fat."

As myths are usually opinions perceived to be true, and to which we usually say, "Yes, that's so!" I would like to make the following suggestion: please shelve your skepticism for a moment, and read the following with an open mind — because there will be some things here that I will discuss that may sound illogical or impossible.

My overweight problem is genetic, not in my control - That is a widespread and quite solid opinion because there are a number of scientific proofs! By the way, every myth or belief has evidence to back it up, and it becomes "a self-fulfilling prophecy."I am not here to argue, I am only here to illustrate the impact that that this myth can have on individuals.

Even if we accept that this is correct, the mere thought of it aggravates the overweight problem, "because now there is scientific backing" for being overweight. This notion can lead to overeating and becoming more overweight.

My family has a very strong tendency to be overweight, which most probably led to my overweight problem.

I was suffering from an overweight problem since the age of 13, and spent the next 20 years of my life fighting my weight in a weariless battle;

I went on many different diets and did manage to lose weight! But after each diet I regained the weight I had lost, and even exceeded my original weight. All the diets started out with high hopes and ended in anguish and disappointment.

but since I've changed the way I think and my behavioral patterns regarding food and eating, I have been at a steady weight for the past 25 years, without even working hard at it.

My eating frenzies were gone; I could once again eat what I liked, and enjoy it without feeling guilty; I quit my self depreciating habits, and lost 20 kg! Eating like naturally thin people became a matter of fact for me, and therefore I have very easily and effortlessly managed to remain the same weight until this very day.

So, even if there are overweight people in your family, you can break the cycle and repossess the natural eating mechanism that you once lost, and you can learn to eat according to your body's needs and remain at a steady weight FOREVER.
