Sometimes it seems that we have prayed with a great deal of faith, or we have followed the suggested positive thinking and law of attraction steps but just cannot seem to get “whatsoever” we are asking for. I love that word, whatsoever. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it to you."-John 16:23

In my last post, I pointed to the many scriptures that tell us that when we don’t get what we are asking for, it’s usually due to doubt and/or lack of faith. But what about those times when you really feel you were full of faith and you didn’t doubt one time? It’s happened to me. I’m sure it’s happened to all of us at some time or another. So what are we missing? Isn’t faith enough?

A long time ago, I was a member of a group of Christians who met on the internet. One of the things I learned from this group is that faith is energy. I can feel that energy in my gut and I’m sure you have experienced it at times when you are praying for something or you may have felt it grow when you receive an answer to prayer or receive something that you’ve been “secreting” into your life. The leader of the group explained prayer to me in a way that changed my perspective completely. He said that most people think of prayer in terms similar to shooting a gun. The gun represents the act of prayer, the bullet represents faith, and of course there is a target which represents the object or goal of the prayer. People will load their gun (prayer) with their bullet (faith) and aim, then shoot at the target. They may hit it or they may not. It depends on their skill of aiming or whether or not the target moved, or the wind was blowing, or many other factors.

Instead of thinking of it in terms of a gun, the Leader of the group explained how faith was like energy and therefore used a laser as a more accurate metaphor of faith. Jude 1:20 tells us to “build yourself up on your most holy faith…” There are plenty of references to measurements of faith. Remember Jesus told disciples they were of “little faith” and there are instructions on how to build our faith (by the hearing of the Word – Romans 10:17). In this case, a laser is a great example of energy which is “built up” to become more and more powerful. Ok, so it’s time for a quick science lesson (boy if my teachers could see me now! I was terrible in science!)

The word laser is actually an acronym which means: Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation. Yeah, I know….what does that mean, right? First of all, let’s get it straight that the word, light, actually refers to electromagnetic radiation of any frequency, not just that in the visible spectrum. Without getting too far off subject, visible light is a tiny portion of a wide spectrum of frequencies…which range from radio waves all the way up to gamma waves. So if you are like me and this goes over your head, just know that we are basically talking about energy. Energy is the same, but depending on the frequency and wavelengths, it manifests itself in a broad range of ways.

Sorry…back to the laser lesson. A laser is created by forcing light (using mirrors) to go through a gain medium (like a crystal) over and over. Each time it passes through, it amplifies, or increases in power. This very powerful energy is released through one of the mirrors and emits a beam of powerful light (energy). It’s much easier to hit a target with a constant beam of light, rather than a speeding bullet, wouldn’t you think? But here is the cool part, the energy, or light, which is created through sending it through the gain medium over and over, produces light waves that are in step – meaning, they have the same frequency and are in the same phase. If you know anything about the law of attraction, you will immediately recognize that as a powerful characteristic.

My intention was to share what I believe to be the missing ingredient in some of our “unanswered prayers” or unmet goals, but I seem to have gotten distracted with the subject of faith. I promise, the next post will have the missing key! But until then, let’s see how this lesson on laser can help us with our faith or help us to become focused on our intentions with a laser precision.

I’d like to first apply this concept using terminology consistent with those reading who are Christian and have not fully appreciated how the law of attraction compliments the faith. Then I will repeat the concept using terminology that those embracing the law of attraction will easily recognize.

The scriptures I referenced earlier state that we are to build up our faith by praying in the Spirit (Jude 1:20) and that faith comes by hearing the Word of God. There are tons of scriptures about the power of the Word of God. Using the laser gun analogy, your spirit is the gain medium and the Word of God is the supplied force (energy). When the Word is pushed through your spirit, over and over, through repeating of the word, it creates faith. Faith in this sense is like the light energy that is in step or the same frequency and has increased in power through the laser process. In order to prepare your laser (prayer), you will need to find one or two powerful scriptures (force of energy) to run through your spirit (gain medium). I personally like these two, but there are many to choose from:

If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. John 15:7

If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it. John 14:14

Get those scriptures in your mind, memorize them, and then begin speaking them out loud, over and over. Say it like you believe it! Let it go through your spirit and feel the energy of faith rising up. Don’t release your faith (laser) until it is as high in frequency as you can stand it. While you are doing this, believe you have already received that which you have asked for! See it done in your mind. Finally, when you can’t take it anymore, you release the faith at your target, speaking directly to the target. Let it go. Jesus told us we could speak TO the mountain and it would be removed.

Now in terms of the law of attraction, this concept works the same way. Your conscious mind is the gain medium and the supplied force is your affirmation. In this analogy, the point of creating “in step” energy is to convince your mind and rid yourself of any doubt. So you would simply state your affirmation over and over in your mind until the energy is in line with itself and then you release it. Releasing it is the path to that feeling of peace of having already received whatsoever you are longing for. The law of attraction states that like attracts like. So the energy you are creating through your affirmations is the same frequency of that which you are longing for. It’s another way of describing faith. You must not be in a state of wanting or longing. How can you long for something you already are in possession of?

Ok, there really is another component to this that I promise we’ll cover in Part III. Until then, build yourself up on your most holy faith! And BELIEVE!
